and how do you use worl edit to paste your ships in different worlds, im having trouble with that
It used to work that you could copy something in one world, then load another world and paste. An update sometime earlier this year broke that. The way I do it now is to copy, then save the copied selection as a schematic. Then I load the other world, load the schematic and paste it.
This is a very helpful and detailed guide. I am currently making a 18th century brig, and this guide will come in handy! And ConfuseACat, if you need any crappy ships for bad examples, just give me a shout. I can whip one up in a day.
Hi,
I am really bad at sails and it is quite hard to get them looking right.
I have read the bit about the sails and it seems really confusing to me. I would love to build professional looking ships and this guide has really helped up until the bit about sails.
This was the best ship guide I have ever seen! I truly loved it and it was very detailed and expansive! Great information and alotta time has been put into this post Definitely a great teacher and builder! I thank you for this post and looking forward to more pics/vids of your builds and more posts from you as well

I know you asked this months ago, so sorry I didn't get back to you. Unfortunately when I got up to the sails bit I found myself at a loss for words for how to explain it. I know that section is a bit lacking compared to the rest, but I can't really think of a method aside from what I do - building them until they look right. I'll have a look and might try to update that bit if I can think of anything new to say.

Anyway, the reason I came back here to post was to say that I may well do that steamship tutorial that I mentioned a few posts back. Somebody asked me about it ages ago in my Shipyard thread, and I figure why not. I was thinking about doing it for my HMS Minotaur, but I've changed my mind. I figured I'd go for HMS Dreadnought herself, so right now I'm building the Dreadnought and taking lots of screenshots. It's actually been ages since I've built a sailing ship. I need to do that again sometime...
Love your tutorial! I just used it to produce a replica of the ship for my single player modded 'City Construction Challenge' series.
Linked and credit, thank you so much the concepts are great and I will use them many times on I'm sure.
I just watched your video, and it was quite a cool experience seeing a video of a ship built following my method. Thanks for posting the link! I was pleased that you seemed to use it for the techniques rather than creating an exact copy, which was exactly what I was aiming for when I wrote it.
It's amazing when I think about it that this was the second ship I built in minecraft, nearly 3 years ago. More recently I've moved onto dreadnoughts rather than sailing ships. I'm actually just about to release Project Jutland in time for the 99th anniversary - and so it's been a while since I've built any sailing ships myself. I'll have to look back through this and see if there's any updates I need to make.
What a build guide this is. You've really helped me improve my ship building skills and I must thank you for that.
