We are preparing this month (May) to make a video showcase. What would you like to see?
Tell us in the poll above! Then go here and give us a diamond!
As well, there are a lot of changes to this front post, we are remodeling, but hopefully it'll look nice.
With the advent of 1.9 bringing new Grass Paths to the table, we became really inspired to work long and hard on the tower. We began with the necessities, yes, those bare necessities. Ones which add variation and theme to this building. The tower looked rather bland before we made some modifications to the main tower, the walls, and structure surrounding the main tower. The ajah towers are in need of a few changes, we still have one grassy area that needs sprucing up, and the interior is coming slowly. But all in all, we have this growing feeling that we've almost finished this bit. It's rather exciting!
Everything past this point is quickfire so here goes!
- We've got a new signature, one that actually looks cool.
- After "reeeally" looking hard at the map, we figured we built the whole thing wrong anyways. Oh, well! #CL
- The tower has 2002 beds in the main Tower alone.
- Of those rooms, there are enough chests to cause entity lag.
- There are 4 secrets and 2 secret passageways.
- We have hand-placed over 700,000 blocks. My hands hurt.
- Q: Does anyone know good methods of windows for stone buildings or examples we could see?
Want to help?
Whew.. So who wants to help out? We've concluded that one way to circumvent griefers is to have those with an eye for what we're building to submit builds! That's right, you heard me!
I thought you guys didn't want help?
The team is smaller at this point in time. Just me and Gouda_Boy right now. And frankly, we really wanted to have people contribute, just those darned griefers messed up a lot of our early works, (and we're ultra-pissed off for eternity about that), but we feel that by doing these submission based contributions, you can assist us!
What do you need?
Be included in the world of the Lord Dragon by making houses, ships, monuments, interesting locations, travel stops, villages, and other things that you think would be nice to include. If you're interested, we can give you the guidelines we will be looking for. Just private message me to get started! We're going to start small with these submissions, so don't build anything enormous or complicated. You'll probably also want OzoCraft resource pack to build with. We are under the impression it will be updated, but if by June nothing happens, we'll modify it ourselves. Shouldn't be too hard. Just a png file right? ... right?
and others, as time will allow to update this section, or someone decides to contribute.
How to Help:
Look, it is real simple.
Step 1: Grab one of the books and read it. Pay attention to the imagery of the scenes.
Step 2: Send me a message on this forum that you'd like to help. (Which will include additional instructions and guidelines, explicit to the request.)
Step 3: Build something! Then contact us again.
Then rinse... and repeat. See? Super easy.
Extras
TO LEARN MORE: You should go here if you have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about. Read the books! The wheel of time is a book series written originally by Robert Jordan, and was finished by Brandon Sanderson after Robert died. It holds an extraordinary number of deep and intricate plots set within a fantasy world that is massive, distinct, and jaw-dropping. I cried, laughed, and enjoyed the books. And now we're building it.
TO HELP OUT (THREAD-WISE): If you think anything should be added to this post/thread, (so that I may improve my forum abilities). Or something in the front post is broken, (fe: a link...). Let me know with a post or message. Thank you! -- Another thing you can do is educate me on Forum etiquette, how to insert/upload photos, and more!
YOU GOTTA GO MAKE THOSE POSTS:
Please. Please! Give feedback or some constructive criticism. I'm not the greatest man on Earth... If you voted for "other" in the polls, I can't read your thoughts, so please tell me what you would like to see! Take your time and be thoughtful, it really helps to pan your view out better. Support is more than appreciated, it speeds us up!
THE RESOURCE PACK:
It seems that the old texture pack "died" and we're moving forward with another pack. Namely, Ozocraft. This texture pack surprised us with its 32x32 settings (which is now vanilla compatible.. wow!) and the connection to the medieval look that it presents. We really enjoy the colored glass and numberless new block designs, which we are taking full advantage of.

Might be kind of hard to do and require a lot of artistic license. Theres very little description of the city in the books. A few about the general style of buildings, being Ogier in origin and usually sculpted in a sea scape theme, a pretty good description of the main Tower itself, but only two of MANY buildings on the Tower grounds have been described, other than the Tower. Other than that all we know about is a few inns, the walls and two harbors that now have at least a partially Cuendillar chain. There are a few overhead illustrations of the layout of the city, but they don't feature a lot of the info one would need.
I'm not saying don't do it, but if you do, you gotta try hard to capture the 'feel' of it.

I'm not saying don't do it, but if you do, you gotta try hard to capture the 'feel' of it.
I'll take this post step by step.
1: Big builds are in general "tough"!
2: Artistic license? If you mean good interpretation of the descriptions: Gotcha covered!
3: The less the description the better. Because it allows me "MORE" creative freedom. It'll be good. (No matter what I make; Tear, Falme (thinking destroyed and on fire at this point), Caemlyn.)
4: This is the most important: A reader is very easily able to 'feel' the awe and wonder when Tar Valon is being described. Sure it's not described with a direct description too much, but look toward the characters. Ask, "What would I see, if I entered Tar Valon?" (Either by the bridge or vessel on the water.) That's where I can see it, the entire city.
Let me give you some pictures that try to show exactness, but not as much feel. And we also have to remember I'm doing this in MC. :laugh.gif:
Those are only a few that you can find with google. Now for the other cities... There's even less reference. I won't have you guys getting your hopes up that the city (or the others) will be like those pictures.. It needs to also feel right.
Dragonmount and Tar Valon might be difficult to do due to their size in comparison with the rest of the architecture (damn height limit).
I'd suggest starting out small, maybe Emond's Field/Two Rivers and progress from there
Due to the sheer immensity of size... I am using McEdit to get some estimates of just how high the tower and the mountain will be.
Of course... That Mountain will be the tallest thing on the map. I want to worry about cities first. Because they "will" be lower. And I can always get the mod that increases map height for the vids.
---
Take the poll if that's what should come out first. I might look around for 's screaming height mountain.
Just had an awesome idea: Post this up on Planet Minecraft as a Project that way you guys can get some more "simple" and "uncluttered" information, but it will link back here for views and important updates.
Four pictures have just been posted on the Planet MC. I'll get one up here.
made a pre-release 4 so, I am using that while creating them. MCedit has been amazing for the Dragonmount.
* Callandor's halls are next up in concept.
* Avendesora has been added to the polls.
I've read the first book, and I loved it, and I have to ask you about this... what are you going to do about Loial's appearance? He's actually tall, so that could be a problem.
And if you were to make a video out of this, will you start off with the beginning of the book? Because if I were to see videos or films of this, I'd rather watch the one's that is pure from the book. People adding in things that aren't from the book is annoying! So I hope you'd do an EXCELLENT job on this project! Don't add anything crap that isn't from the book, okay? PLEASE!?

You can be quite assured that I am taking everything "directly" from the books. I have them sitting in a messy stack next to my computer. XD
Ummm, Loial? Well, I didn't think I was making characters in Minecraft. I'm focusing on the cities and monuments.
Sometimes, I will use the Wheel of Time wiki to get larger estimations for how big things are.
And this is cool, the base of Dragonmount has been finished, and now I need to get a lower place in the terrain, "because I just hit the ceiling...", to start adding all the things you'd see on a mountain. Over time, don't you think the mountain would accumulate gravel? =)
So someone sent me a message asking why all my PMC photos are "in the air?" Well, this post is to tell you the answer.
The Flat Maps, a great way to clear a lot of Minecraft blocks, with someone else's time. The flat maps are a good way for me to see "every aspect" of a building before I use MCedit to place it in the actual world that I will be using.
They are very large in size, but it's perfect for concepts! * A concept is likely to be twice to three times as small... and will have less detail than the finished product. * So, I make sure that my 'idea' is not impossible.

It not only gives me more information, but improves the chances of others to see it also.
Another request: Take the poll, please, oh pretty please? :cool.gif:

I hope you don't mind me asking: What's the texture pack that you're using?
