Well, i don't get to build much, but i do enjoy it, so i thought i would join in this discussion. I have a forum post about some building tricks i was talking to Tman about, and i thought i would share something of mine. It is about 10% complete as of now, but the pics are below. As for the section in the main post about mods, i'm planning a mod that adds new blocks, i am also thinking of making the completely custom, texture, id and block name wise. I also have a mod that makes textures more flexible, so texture makers can help building some. Pics
Im planning for it to be pub, i'm using dokucraft, compared to the fact i usually use creative textures, like palceon or vanacia.
When I build I tend to use original shapes, instead of plain squares or rectangles. Pretty much my least favorite shape for architecture in minecraft is the square, if I do make squares though, I tend to mix a bunch together, not in any particular pattern unless that's what I'm planning. Also when building you should look for blocks that look vertical and horizontal, also ones going both ways should be a good pattern for walls. Like you could make a wall out of bricks or something with a mixed pattern, then add a window then make wooden pillars to the sides and you could replace the bottom layer of the wall with sideways logs. It tends to make things look alot better.
I love using different types of wooden planks (like spruce and birch) to make a floor look nice. Also, since the 1.3 updates, you can place wood sideways which I use to make patterns. I also like using stairs to make "pillars". I do it in entrances and in corners when they need rounded off sometimes.
Hey guys, I am currently building a city. I have a school, football stadium, countless small restaurants, hospital, fire dept, a town hall and a few parks. Does anyone have anymore ideas that follow the small town/city look? We are currently working on a jail, church and library as well. I am on the xbox version and have minecraft block lol. Much help needed!!! Thanks!
Hello, I'm Gor. I've been building Minecraft structures for a long time. I'm at least somewhat proficient in building, according to my friends. However, I am currently creating a paramilitary multi-building facility and I'm stuck. I've been devoting at least 7 hours a week just planning it. I can get a blueprint together, and I can make the structure work, but I need ideas on what to make it look like, and details. I'm trying to give it a military, no-nonsense look, without making it a bunch of cubes with windows. I am willing to give credit, and I will post pictures near the last 30-20% of the project due to privacy and conflicted preferences. Thanks!
I really don't think such a long guide is needed, my only tips is to be creative there is NO LIMIT to imagination, add cool features like redstone and mobs.
And last but not least, EVERY awesome building needs a theme!!!Please let me grow up by clicking me I don't want to die! Click my brothers and sisters too:
