I usually go through the cities history instead of just pretending it happened. For example:
When I start a city or town I start with a 4x4 hut with a crafting box, bed, and a box or two. Then I make a few storage huts. Then a farm. Mine, and smelters shop. A few more houses, and... voila a base town. after that I add streets, bakerys, maybe a few walls. Then lure a few creepers into it and BAM!(Literally, or, uhhh, erm.. virtual literally), Maybe some endermen into Ender-Town? It all depends on my theme.
But that's very time consuming but I think It better shows Struggle-to-Thrive relations.
It looks as though I "accidentally" pressed the 'save changes' button instead of the 'preview post' one. Have the long awaited other half of the update.
Why is it so late? Because I did slack off, then lost a chuck of progress when I lost the device I stored it on, then slacked off some more. I'm bad at that... have some cookies as repayment.
Thank you for this, it's excellent! I'll certainly be using this for my future builds.
I was trying to go through and see if anyone had already suggested this, but after 8 pages I gave up:
When building multiple towns relatively close (part of a country or just near each other) it's helpful to follow a river or some other landmark for navigation and world unity. I'm doing that in my world, and the river I'm following goes through every biome, so it's easy to get from town to town without remembering coordinates, and it makes sense because they're all supposed to be part of a single country.
Great guide, very comprehensive and useful.

I don't really use this forum anymore
