Welcome to the new thread for Huron City! PLEASE view previous updates before reading this thread! You will find many more pictures of the city and buildings that were built before this thread! Click the spoiler below to reveal the link to the previous thread.
I have been working on this city off and on for the last few months after I abandoned it when I got a new PC. A lot of progress has been made. I use world edit in 1.8.1. Also I am using Flow's HD resource pack. I will try to update often after today when I make
noticeable progress. Also check back for more skyline renders! Also, I am 13 and started this when I was 11.
Update 1: 7/12/2015
New Grocery store to fill out Old Town:Interior:Redid the exterior of one of the first buildings built.Added two new brownstones:They really make this street look like a scene from New YorkAdded Conference room and/or lobby and a plaza to the tallest building downtown. So
far since February thats all I've added! I should start updating more
and you should expect more buildings downtown and old town to be
finished very soon!
Update 2: 7/18/2015
Old Town is complete except for some road and roof details.
The biggest change is I added two more rowhouses to fill up the
block. I probably will try to add more variations to the new buildings
so it doesn't look too much like copy/paste.Now just a bunch of pretty pictures of the rest of town.Okay
that's just about it for this section of town, across the highway is
where more historic looking residential will be built which I may
consider an extension of Old Town.
Now, downtown I've added a new skyscraper based on 1401 Lawrence being built in Downtown Denver.
Minecraft:
Denver:
Of course my version has different proportions to fit in with the
rest of the city. Mine has 4 floors of parking while the real one has 6
which is the main difference. Mine also is not as long or wide. Now on
to other angles so you really get a feeling of it. Also, the second
rendering in the first post features this building in the center of the
skyline.
I also built a food truck in the plaza catty-corner to this building.Well,
that's it for this update! There may not be an update next week because
I am going camping next weekend but I may do a small update if I make
progress. I plan on also building 1144 fifteenth street which is also
under construction in Denver. I almost thought about replicating the
block 1401 Lawrence sits on and the block next to it where 1144
fifteenth is being built, but it is not really possible unless I move
1401 Lawrence.
Out of question, how/where did you find inspiration for the buildings? Right now I'm having a bit of Builders block on my own project. ._.
Some of the buildings came from pictures of buildings in Denver if you look at my old thread you'll see some of the captions say what the building was inspired by. I'm influenced by Keralis and if you look up Huntington city on Planet Minecraft I'm trying to start building in the style they build in also. Try looking at the main high-rise district or downtown in your region to find inspiration for skyscrapers. A lot of the mid-rise buildings are inspired by American mid-western cities like the ones I'm accustomed to. Sometimes dealing with builders block is just to wait it out until you get inspiration. To help though just look at other people's creations and maybe build some smaller things first to get back into building.

Nice to see someone else who's competent at making cities!
Figured it was time for a change.
Haha thanks! I've noticed most modern cities on here were kinda sucky or not very ambitious too.

Thank you!
I like the concept & style that you've adopted. Probably the best build for me would be your tenements.
Thank you! I like the tenements a lot too.
