Seeing that my previous post, the Valkyrie Build Log, went really well in terms of feedback coming in, I decided to handle my upcoming project the very same way. If you don't know what I am talking about, check THIS out.
Putting all my newly gained motivation, reference material, ideas, suggestions and thoughts about my previous content into one hell of a build, the outcome will surely be amazing!
And the best part? YOU get to tell ME what you want to see added or changed! Just suggest something, give an opinion - spread the word and let this project be driven by your ideas and your imagination as well! I promise to give every suggestion a try!
After the project is completed, you can look at all the different steps it took to make it look the way it will come out, making this post an useful tutorial and guide to building an airship the way I did.
Well then, Let's begin, shall we?
First of all, I made the basic shape of the ship. To archive this, I used Microsoft Paint (belive it or not) and formed the hull the way I wanted to using the Curve tool.
I inverted the colors to turn it into a heightmap, cut it out to be one layer thick and then formed the lower body of the ship following the lines.
That then gave me this:
Then I closed all of the openings for ventilation and covered the top with a double layer of wooden planks.
I added basic engines to the back:
And gave it more support and CANNONS
To further speed up my progress, I cut the ship in half to later mirror it.
In the next step, I added a very basic superstructure, wings and more engines.
This is what it looks when mirroring it:
Quite a cool look, right? I also connected the engines to the fueling system using pipes in that cutout.
Same build progress from the front.
Back to one half of the ship again.
Changed color to red, added more weaponry (AA guns) all over the place, added engines in a special section below the big wing (hard to see here) and added more features to the front.
Better shot of the lower engine section.
Closeup on the WIP features (detailing yet to come!)
Added armor plates and more features. Split the wing in two, changed the coloring of the armor plates to 50%red wool, 50% red stained clay giving it a PERFECT noise.
Now we are getting somewhere, right? I also put work into the hangar ramp on the front.
Better picture of it.
The inside of those armor plates is covered in glowstone, giving it an intimidating glow at night:
Alright. That's it for today.
Got any ideas or feedback? opinions on even the smalles details that you would want me to consider changing?
I really love the detail of the hangar ramp off the nose. I can really visualize smaller airships taking off and hard banking for ship's defense or attack formation. Do you have plans for a small observation station/control room near the hangar deck such as just below main deck on ship bow? It is kind of hard to see this section in the picture.

I wanted to split the superstructure into 3 towers each individually responsible for managing the tasks the ship has to take on. One for managing the takeoff and landing as well as organization below deck.
One for weapon control and organizing the battle stations
One for communication and intel.
But I will try to cramp something in there now that you mention it
However, I have to admit that interiors are one of my weakest disciplines, right next to organics.
Taking a break on the superstructure because armor plating and hull shaping is just too addictive!
First of all, look at this 4k render of the ship! You can see the entire thing as it is (was yesterday) from far away but you can zoom in on all the little details!
Back to today's progress.
More armor plating around the front...
... and more cannons!
Here is an overview of how far we are into the build. Detailing it from the front tip all the way towards the engines!
Hey Rossky, good to see you back with another build.
It's looking spectacular as usual. I'll be following this with great interest. I thought I had a massive project on my hands with Jutland, but these are something else!

Thank you, nice to hear all the positive feedback <3
Closing today's work with an operational radar system!

You follow your direction; who can tell an artist what is right on his creation. You just have to follow your heart. I only mentioned it since towers don't always see everything so there is usually something like this on carriers (although this is the catapult officer).

Oh yeah. Yes we actually already have something like that on the ship but since it has only a single ramp to take off, it's basically a part of the interior. It has a large, cyan window overlooking the ramp and the hangar

Post a comment and I will see what I can do!
I'm counting on you!
Time for some more superstructure, right?
really neat!!!
thank you very much!
It's 964 in length.
After looking at your last build I can say that I'll be anxiously awaiting updates. I love the direction this one is taking.
Thank you for your kind words.
Well then let's hope I don't accidentally lose that direction while building, huh?
I'll keep you updated and just shout at me whenever I tend to lose it!
how are you making this!? and is it in minecraft?
Hes of course it is in minecraft. That's why it is here

They didn't ease up but let's say I got over it all and am back on track in most of the things

but how did you make it in minecraft?
What did you mean exactly?
It's being build in singleplayer using mcedit, worldpainter and worldedit.
yea but did you use a program to put it in minecraft without building it or you built it normaly
