There may be a handful of enemies (for instance the spiders in High Caves), but most of the Spyro enemies don't have a Minecraft counterpart, so I can't put them in. If a modder wants to make a mod that adds gnorcs and gems and whatnot then they can knock themselves out, but otherwise, it's just a simple map.
Thanks.
Hmm, I haven't played in forever, but perhaps once the aesthetic part is complete you can fork it over to me and I'll create NPCs and such.

Thanks. Me too, although that speaks for itself. xD
Weeeelll, I have calculated that if I do one level a month as I have been, it'll take me approximately 8.5 years to complete this project... so you might be waiting a while. xD

So, can you do it... faster?
Also, you could make a server or a Realm, so we could work on it together.

I'll try. I'll have more time over the summer. But this is a years-long project no matter what I do, really. I'd have to pump out 9 a month to complete it in a year, which is literally impossible even if I had absolutely no commitments or need to leave the house for a whole year. xD
Eh, I don't work well with others. I like to just do things myself. But, even if I wanted to, my computer is pretty crappy anyway. I think running a server on it would kill it. xD

Perhaps make a joint account on server.pro and make a 2-hour free server?

Oh man, This brings memories! It seems it could use a bit of work though. I'd love to help! However I have several projects of my own that I need to work on. Good to see someone else who remembers the original Spyro games.
Spyro's always had a place in my heart, thanks for the trip down nostalgia lane

Okay, it could quite possibly be years though. Even with all day to myself I still can't find the time to work on this, and when I'm 18, it's going to be very difficult to do much at all. xD
But thank you. You're free to dither with the levels as much as you'd like right now, if you'd like. I do have working portals with floating text like it is in the game, but there's no portal texture. So maybe you can improve them. But I'm switching them back to pressure plates next update, since I froze all the sheep. They had been teleporting me all over the map, which is why I changed it to buttons in the first place. xD
To everyone else: I feel like I'm more than overdue for an update even if I'm not done. So sorry about not posting or working on this much. A few months ago I got stuck on Town Square. I'm just confused about if a part of the level is actually totally fine or if I massively screwed up and I don't want to spend an hour building only to realize the latter. Hence the hiatus. xD I'll try to work on it either this month or next month.
I'm fine to wait as long as need be to get my hands on the finished product. I'd tinker with the levels now, but I'd just have to carry over what changes I've made with every update you make, so there's not much point to that. Hence why I said I'd do it at the end of Spyro 1. At least that way, you can separate the games into different worlds, and pass them along to me to set up the Redstone bits and bobs.
As to the portal issue, I was thinking something of a "/testfor [type=Player, x, y, z]" with the coordinates at the portal base. That way, it will only look for the player, and fodder could pass through the portal unperturbed.
Looks pretty great but I wish the grass was greener.
I'd love to use grass colours from different biomes to make it look more vivid, but as far as I know, there's no way to do that without external editors. So it's all permanently plains grass. Maybe someday they'll add multiple blocks for each biome's grass. xD

Makes sense. I think I'm going to stick mostly to frozen mobs though, because the sheep wandered pretty far away from their original spot and got stuck in corners and stuff. But that's still a good idea. xD
Hey guys. I know it's been a year since I released the last map. Sorry about that. I've been pretty busy and I have less time than ever to work on this. But this project is definitely not dead, so no worries. Even if it takes years, I'll slowly put out updates for it until it's done. So don't lose faith in me yet. ;P
Anyway, the reason I dropped this project for so long is because I got stuck trying to figure out what was wrong with the map. As you can see in a picture below, the top area with the water pit seemed to come out the entirely wrong way. Well, I found a nifty program called Spyro World Viewer and it's a godsend (no more frying my PS4 for hours just to view the level!). Here's the issue.
...It's too straight. Everything is too straight, and it's not diagonal where it needs to be. That means it's essentially impossible to build the map without horrible overlapping. I need to pretty much redo everything and get the angles right this time.
I can't promise that I'll be done with Town Square any time soon, as I might get distracted with other things again, but at the very least I can promise that work is being done on this project. And I'm going to make sure I at least get this roadblock out of the way if I lose interest on this project before Town Square is done. That way I can at least come back and make progress instead of just putting off rebuilding it more and more.
I'll probably post an update once I get this area fixed, so stay tuned.
P.S. Elytra is a thing now! Which means real gliding! Unfortunately it's nothing like gliding in Spyro so you can't reach most places anyway, but it's still cool. If you download this map, make sure you go into creative and grab a pair of wings..
P.P.S. 350 downloads? Holy shiz y'all. I know that's nothing compared to what some people rack up, but I'm still amazed, especially since this hasn't been bumped in months. Thanks a ton!
Good to see ya back girl! How did you find out about that program? Sounds like fun to go digging through. Especially for the Tree Tops level. God, I love/hate that level so much. Music for sure was great.

CrystalFissure, a guy on Youtube. xD Here's a link to it, with a tutorial. I'm a mega virus freak and I haven't had any trouble with it, so it should be safe. And it's a great nostalgia trip... even if it is a bit disillusioning flying way above the level and seeing it from an angle you were never supposed to. xD https://www.reddit.com/r/Spyro/wiki/worldviewer
Since the video doesn't mention the actual controls and I had a hard time with it, you use WASD to move up, down, left and right, and the mouse clicks to move forwards and backwards. You can get to the next level by pressing Ctrl + left mouse button. And there's a crap ton of more confusing controls for doing advanced stuff that I don't understand, but that's just the basics. There's a help menu if you want to get into all that. xD
I know this isn't some massive project with a community following. But it'd be cool if it was, so I'm going to pretend it is! And I'm going to do that by being more transparent!
What I've been doing is just making the worlds, and meanwhile releasing maybe 1 update showing what I'm doing between them. Even if the process takes months, or, uh... *looks at date of last release again* years... Yeah. You can't tell if I'm completely ignoring the project or if I'm working on it at all. I'm not going to do that anymore. Now I'm going to post more updates in this thread. So even if I AM lazy and take a year just to put out one level... You'll at least know when I'm working on it and when I'm not!
(I'm still only updating the actual map upon a level's completion, though.)
So, on that note...
Town Square's building is done! Finally! *dies*
Some of the dimensions were not quite right, so a bit of it is kinda squashed in there, but frankly I'm bloody sick of this level and want to get on with my life.
Now, there are just a few steps left before I can release it.
-Interior decoration/Journals.
-The mountains surrounding the level.
-Spyro World Viewer does NOT show entities like mobs, flags, or trees. So I'm going to have to examine the level on my Playstation and add those bits in.
So, I will tentatively assign a release date of "sometime in late December or early January". This is like 2 days of work but I'm horribly lazy.
Also, I spent more time than I probably should have just messing around and tweaking this world the past year, so there's going to be a massive changelog this time around. Just as a few examples, 1.9, among other things, destroyed the particle code for my Return Home portals, and caused my cute little campfires in Dark Hollow to emit horrific screeching noises. These have been fixed.
