I absolutely adore this mini game. But recently, lone wolfs like me have kept encountering 2, 3, even 4 player teams almost all the time! What? It makes the game extremely unfair to those who want to win legit. I have some suggestions to control these tacky teams:
1. Center Refills Option
When disabled, the center chests will not refill. Teams get their strength mostly from the center. So, if we can disable that, at least they have to put in some effort to survive.
2. Item Dropping Option
When enabled, dropped items can only be picked up by the player who dropped them.
This will have competition to get strong items, likely leading to early kills. >:)
3. The Killjoy
Not an option, but rather an item. A diamond sword with 5 uses, with max Sharpness and Fire Aspect!! It will ONLY spawn in the outside chests in Showdown, but will have rainbow particles to indicate its location, This is quite a rare item, though, with an 8% chance of spawning. Certainly a game changer!
4. Designated Teams Options
How about a mode where everyone has teams? And maybe teams with less players get starting supplies? I could talk about this more, but I'm sure it has been mentioned somewhere.
These are my ideas to help with the teaming in Battle. Do you like them?

Console Battle is two games rolled into one: gambling (whether or not you get one of the OP weapons) and betting (which teammate won't turn on you, since teaming is pretty much a requirement to kill off another team)! Of course, it's not all chance; at its core, Battle is about triumphing and defeating other players... by kicking them out if they win to make yourself feel better.
The fire aspect stone sword is honestly too good. I like the existence of fire aspect though, and while the stone sword is really good, the soft hitting fire aspect wood hoe and stone shovel are just bad weapons you only use if you have to. Why not try changing it to a stone axe or pickaxe with fire aspect?
Also the full set of gold that can spawn in the first chests is way too strong. Thats almost 40% damage reduction and you have it before invincibility wears off.
I do really like depth strider, it has won me many games on some maps, but on other maps it ranges from not very helpful to completely useless. Not that it really bothers me to pick up depth strider boots on those maps, but it would be a nice touch if they were not available or would appear with a different enchantment.
The diamond sword is an interesting addition that was made a few updates ago that really confuses me. It breaks in two hits, so it is not a primary we, weapon but you can place it next to another to switch to, but that can be difficult sometimes and make you miss a hit in the transition making the strat useless. It also takes up a crucial slot in your limited inventory space. It is also good to note that against an enemy with no armor two hits,(unless they are critical hits) will not be enough to kill. So the diamond sword is in an awkward spot where it is no good enough to be sought out or preferred, but if the durability was to be upgraded it would become way too good. Not that I don't like this weapon in the game, this is just an observation.
I agree with felix, stone sword and full gold armor need strength reduction. The diamond sword should also be reduced to one use, rather than two. It should also be rarer and not appear in the center.
(Speaking of the center, here's a thought: When central spawn is off, turn off starting items in the center. Some who spawn closer to the center get the advantage.)

Definitely! I have to constantly kick teamers all the time. Then they do not want to join my game again. These people are usually on the same device and it really annoys me when people team up.
1. Diamond swords should be changed to iron, and should be one use, not two.
2. Diamond shovels and fishing rods should switch Knockback levels. The shovels would be far less OP and annoying, and rods will be more useful.
3. Reserve leather armor to enchanted boots.
4. Only up to 2 potions of harming can generate in a chest.

I think you should add XP bottles and lapis and maybe an enchantment table on maps so you could get enchantments such as sharpness 1 on a axe or something.

I would like to note that I do not think the iron axe is too powerful, it is rare and there are plenty of other knockback tools.
