Many gamers have been playing Minecraft for years, with the release of Minecraft Xbox One Edition on September 5, 2014, many Xbox 360 players switched over to the console. As well as Minecraft Nintendo Switch Edition coming out on May 11, 2017, The new Switch Edition was a port of the Wii U edition. With the Xbox One edition being out for just under three years and the Switch edition being out for less than four months, they are both being discounted. Why? Because Microsoft had another version of Minecraft, Minecraft Pocket Edition or MCPE. MCPE was the mobile version of Minecraft, as MCPE is the best selling version of Minecraft -With over 50 Million Copies sold- they decided to put it on Windows 10 with Minecraft Windows 10 Edition, and those two versions could play together with cross play across devices. Now at that point, there were 6 Console versions with a 7th coming in a couple months, many console players wanted to play with their friends on different platforms, they also wanted Realms -Which the PE version already had- so Mojang had made a new engine dubbed Bedrock to run on Xbox One, Switch, and PS4. The PS4 version never came because Sony declined to Minecraft Bedrock Edition being on the PS4. So that left Xbox One and Switch, they want people to switch over, but the majority of people I have heard from said that they don't like MCPE as much and they didn't want to switch to it. The new Better Together Update coming out in August to September will be the new Minecraft. But that's not all! Since Microsoft wants people to switch so bad, there stopping the development of Xbox One Edition and Switch Edition to force people to switch to Minecraft Bedrock.
As you might guess this is bad, but if you go onto minecraft.net/en-us/article/better-together-faq and read the FAQ you might think this is all good but you are also losing lots of things Mini-Game updates will no longer be updates the same as 360, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, and Wii U. Mini-games are very important as they are console exclusive.
Also, No more Minecart with Furnace
This could effect Millions of players in the Minecraft Community, even if you don't play Minecraft or aren't on those platforms you should still sign this for the others that are. Even if you like Bedrock edition you should still sign this to get updates to Mini-Games.
If we lose, Eventually all Minecraft Console Editions will be shut down and it will just be MCPE.

This isn't going to do anything. What they did makes sense. You are better off starting a crowd source campaign to pay the hundreds of thousands a year it costs to maintain multiple versions of games.
Why on earth would you want to keep the console edition when the new version has infinite worlds?
Constantly starting new worlds every time they have a major update to the console edition is annoying.
My favourite world on the xbox one edition doesn't even have Mesas, Granite, Diorite or any other newer blocks in the entire world due to the fact that it was created and fully explored before the new blocks and biomes were added.
Looking forward to transferring the world to the new edition so I can keep expanding it to get the new blocks

Cuz there's Minecraft with furnaces! XD and because you can make amplified worlds and you can have maps with coordinates.
I get where your coming from man, I'm still on the fence myself. As far as millions of ppl that don't want the update, I'm not so sure about that. The BT update provides nearly everything that nearly everyone has been asking for since 2012 when the 360 version was first released.
There are some major technical differences in the way the two games operate, but to the vast majority of players this is not an issue. These differences are really only relevant to technical players, like myself, that will be completely lost without qc, instant piston retraction, etc., and in reality we only make up a small segment of the playerbase, especially on console.
Thats not to say that in the beginning there won't be a lot of ppl that are upset because when they transferred their existing world their tree farm, tnt duper or whatever is broken. But it won't be long before all this is forgotten, especially since things like villager and animal caps will be gone, infinite worlds, realms, and servers will all be available, as well as add-ons (mods). Mini games will still be available as far as I know (although not the minigames that are currently available), and the fact that 3rd party developers will be able to create and offer their creations on the marketplace will mean that there will be many more options to choose from.
Theres also the benefit of replacing the legacy code created by 4j and then modified 50-some times, seemingly creating an ever expanding number of game breaking bugs that take longer and longer to sort out as time goes on.
Personally, I'm seriously considering moving to java version. I was all set to buy a One X at christmas time, but now that I realize redstone works so differently and many of the contraptions I'm interested in building simply aren't possible on Bedrock. I may just spend the extra money for a decent gaming computer and make the switch.
I had been seriously considering switching to Java, but I've decided to give the Bedrock Platform on honest try. I like the challenge of finding workarounds to attempt to restore my tree farm and other contraptions to similar speeds. I expect mob farms will get a huge boost with the update as well.
Should I decide the technical capabilities of the Bedrock Update are inadequate though, I will definitely be switching to Java.
As as a side note, the poll question is a bit unfair. Nobody in Console has played the Bedrock Platform so how can we have concrete opinions about it? Preconceived notions, sure, but at this point any opinion is conjecture at best.

Well, I did say I wanted to get it a chance but I still think console is better. I have updated the poll so please check that out.

Personally I can't wait for the new version. 4J started off doing very well, but overtime they made alot of terrible mistakes, that cost many of us worlds that we to this day still can't load. Even if you did manage to keep your world for along time, its now somewhat corrupt as the spawners are not likely what they once were. Tons and tons and tons of kludges to the game engine have slowed mob spawning to a crawl. 4J also chooses what bugs they want to fix, and ignore many others for long periods of time. Each new update brings a bit of fear when updating as 4J don't seem to play test new versions at all, which often renders minecraft pretty much usless until a patch is released.
As for mini games, big deal, no great loss there. The multiplex servers will more then make up for the lack of minigames, with tons and tons and tons of new mini games, on a much grander scale. I for one can't wait to say goodbye to this crap we currently call minecraft. The Win10 version is 10x what we currently have, it has nearly everything we have now, and runs soooooo much more smoother. Mobs spawn like they should, with high yield outputs when the farm is optimized.
Finally lets talk about mob caps, there are none, no more limits to villagers, cows, chickens, sheep, ect. I finally can have a decent sized cow farm if i want. So bring on the new version, and death to this version.

If you own Minecraft: Xbox One Edition or Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition, you’ll receive the brand new version of Minecraft for free (and, don’t worry, if you’re attached to the old console version, you can still play that too).
(That's referring to the final game, not to the beta.)
I wouldn't expect a whole lot of updates to Console Edition after the Better Together version goes live, but it doesn't sound like they're going to wipe it off your console...

Well like I said, there are ups and downs to this. The PC version beats them all though!

Couldn't care less about Minecarts with furnaces but I do agree with you on the other two, especially the map coordinates.
But then I would still rather have infinite worlds. So small price to pay
The Minart with Furnace was a joke, although real. It's useless!

All I'm saying is to have both versions.
Highly unlikely, if you want to stay console version done by 4J, step backwards and get yourself a xbox 360, ps3 or ps4.
I do play on Ps3 and Wii U, but it it is said to see an edition going away
Well, from the Better Together Beta page:

Do you think they will still update Mini-Games?
Apparently not. No more updates at all once the BT is out.
Although they do say that mini games will be in the new servers
