It's been a week now since I've opened up Tunvua and we've had a great time but we always need more people to join in.
We've been experimenting with a virtual economy within Minecraft, let me explain to how it works.
Iron = $1
Gold = $5
Diamonds = $10
I've played in other multiplayer maps that have used this metric and the major flaw is that the currency doubles as resources so the world is bound to run out at some point. In order to counter this I've built a secure storage location loaded with cash and I pay people for the work they do in my world.
JOBS
When you first enter Tunuva head to the people's hall and look at the jobs board. Any Jobs available will be posted on the jobs board. Send me a message when you decide if their is a job you're interested in. Claim or build a house in one of our three cities and place a chest with a sign above it stated your
job title. When you place the resources or mob drops you are responsible for collecting I will replace stacks of 64 with money. I will only ever move
items from this particular chest.
AVAILABLE JOBS NOW:
Wood Cutter: 10$ a stack
Cobblestone Cutter: 5$ a stack
Coal Collector: 20$ a stack
Farmer: 16$ per stack or wheat
10$ per stack of SugarCane
10$ per stack of Melon
(will not be able to offer ranching jobs until 4j studios addresses multiplayer animal spawning restrictions)
House Bulider: 30$ per house built
A house builder resources are supplied. I the grand plan is to have the wood cutters and cobblestone collectors gather the resources for the house builders and road builders. As a house builder you follow the same procedure as the rest of the jobs but in order to collect your pay you place a sign on the house you built and when I see it I remove the sign and add your pay to your chest.
Road Builder: Depends on the distance
Subway constructor: Depends on distance
STORE:
Not much of a point of having a currency system if there isn't something to spend it on. I've developed a store in our largest city where you can visit and spend your hard earn dollars on resources you'd rather not gather yourself. When you arrive send me the message 'store' and I will be there in a min or two.
All resources are listed with their price over their own chest. Place the appropriate amount of $ in the chest and I will replace it with a 64 stack of the desired resources. I supply only raw materials but I would love it if more players took up their own merchant shops and supplied potions, prepared foods,
enchanted weapons or armor, or anything else that I haven't thought of.
WHATS AVAILABLE AT THE STORE
COBBLESTONE: 5$
SAND: 3$
WOOD: 12$
COAL: 22$
REDSTONE: 30$
GLOWSTONE: 60$
NETHERBRICK: 40$
BEDROCK: 125$
a warning to anyone who purchases bedrock. It can not be broken so be extremely careful when placing it.
RAW BEEF: 1$ for 3
ARROWS: 64 for 4$
BLAZE RODS: 1 for 20$
XP POTIONS: 5 for 10$
OBSIDIAN: 10 Blocks for 50$
Just like the real economy the prices of goods and the wages are subject to change over time.
LAWS:
The laws are pretty straight forward
Do not trespass:
If a building has a sign with players name on it YOU MAY NOT ENTER
the only exception to this is if that sign also has the word "WELCOME" on it.
for example, my house in the capital city says "Yetter420's house Welcome" so feel free to come inside and borrow my bed, grab a bite to eat, use my enchanting table and potion stand or my portal to the nether in the basement. And if anyone else feels the same way they can add "WELCOME" to their signs.
Do not steal:
Considering this is impossible to achieve without trespassing it should go with out saying but if caught stealing you will be killed, the items will be recovered and you will be kicked from the world.
Do not break anything you didn't build yourself:
There has been a lot of time put into this world and I will not tolerate the destruction of mine or anyone's creations. Obviously accidents do happen and sometimes you need to break a block or two if you get stuck somewhere and this is understandable. I make backup saves on the cloud and my hardrive for this
game daily and I assure you I will find out who you are and boot you. There have already been quite a few so if this is your sole intention of joining this world, don't bother wasting your time.
No Griefing at all:
I leave PvP on only to enforce the stealing rule and I have a competitive game on my map that requires it. Also there will soon be a Colosseum available for contained PvP matches as well as single-player challenges.
When I have this world open I only play the role as moderator/administrator and I am ruthless when it comes to the enforcement of these laws. If you are in this world assume you are being watched at all times. The entire idea of a virtual economy falls apart if I'm not. Just think if the woodcutters were
stealing their wood back from the house builders to sell back to me. I also would like the citizens of Tunuva to feel as if their belongings are secure when they are not playing.
A FEW ATTRACTIONS TO SEE WHILE YOU'RE HERE:
Captial City:
Home of the People's Hall and my house
as of now it is the most populated city of Tunuva
Desert Oasis:
The most elaborate city in Tunuva this is where the store is located. There is also a transportation hub that has minecart lines to the rest of the world.
Trials of the Temples:
A Zelda style quest where you have to solve the puzzles and complete the challenges of each temple till you progress to the final chamber to collect your
final reward. Each temple will give the items you need to advance to the next temple so this can be attempted at any time.
!WARNING!
The trials of the temples must be completed in the right order and the sandstone path must be followed or your final reward will be your doom!
(Because this entire quest involves the use of fairly advanced redstone mechanics I would much prefer that you message me if you get stuck as oppose to trying to bust your way out)
Casino:
This building includes many minecraft style casino games I invented that award prizes
THE SANDDROP:
There are four pressure plates surrounding a torch. When the PLAY button is pressed a block of sand falls on the torch and breaks randomly falling on 1 of the 4 pressure plates. You must place your bet on which pressure plate it will hit before pressing the play button. If you guess correctly you win a prize.
THE WATER RACE:
Two items come racing down shoots of water in opposite directions. You must bet on which item will come down first. You must place a bet before pressing the play button.
THE PIG RACE:
Place your bet downstairs on which pig you think will win the race, then head upstairs to start a new race. Please press the reset button to reset the scoreboard before leaving,
(Though this is a great game an probably my favorite it does not seem to work well when playing multiplayer because for the extremely restrictive animal spawn rates. Hopefully this is addressed in a future update so everyone can enjoy this game.
MINECRAFT ROULETTE:
This is very hard to explain without seeing it but essentially you press the on/off button and choose red or black. This prompts a dispenser to shoot an item down a shoot a water stream where it has opportunities to fall in a red basket or a black basket. If you choose correctly you win a prize.
TREASURE HUNT:
This game was inspired by 'Zelda: A Link to the Past' treasure dig mini-game. When you walk on the starting pressure plate the door to the field opens and you have 30 seconds to dig up treasure. There are 5 redstone torches on the wall that act as indicators for the amount of time you have left. When the 4th torch as lit you have 5 seconds to exit the arena. When the 5th torch is lit the door will lock and you will be killed loosing whatever you've collected.
MURDERBALL STADIUM:
A game played between 2 - 6 players. The premise is simple. Begin the game by standing on the designated pressure plates causing the game balls to be dispensed. Each team must throw the balls in three of their goals to collect a point. First team to three points wins. It is great fun if you can get the players together to try it out.
There are other attractions as well but I will let you discover them for yourself.
Well that's about it. I'm not going to claim to be a 24/7 server as I've seen so many other due on this forum and then not deliver but I do play alot. If your weekend player I am on consistently throughout Sat. Sun. Mon. I work evenings otherwise so I'm on at about 12:00PM till 4:00PM and then 11PM till often very late Tues. - Fri. (CENTRAL TIME). Of course I have a mic but I tend to stray away from joining into xbox live parties. I'm not totally opposed to it if you just want to discuss something specific with me or we are collaborating on a project but I am often to busy sending various messages paying people and kicking people just to chat. Feel free to send me a voice message, I use my phone to send XBL messages so it is not a strain for me to communicate that way.
One last thing I would like to mention
I am committed to keeping this a long active and growing community in the xbox minecraft space and as such you have my guarantee that I will continue to post forums on here regularly soon with screenshots and links to videos in order to continue to add exposure to Tunuva and grow the population. I'd like to try and keep this world as full as possible as often as possible.
If you've managed to get through this beast of a description I congratulate you and also urge you to add my gamertag to your friends list on XBL so you can come check out Tunuva as soon as possible.
Tunuva has been open for 2 weeks and the response has been extremely positive.
I've played on many multiplayer servers and I often find they are over ambitious and don't have the follow through to bring their vision to life. What I mean by this is they try to implement a complicated job structure with Police, bankers, mayors, Judges, laywers and juries. Well this all sounds like it would be great fun it hardly ever works properly as no one is actually playing MC 24 hrs a day and many of this job titles would require it. Also there needs to be a player who is willing to take on a strong administrative role to make sure all the wheels are turning.
This is why I started Tunuva. I've started a robust job system that involves doing things that can actually be accomplished in MC. And I've created a store for raw resources so I've mining for cobble/sand/wood/redstone etc... isn't your thing than grab a job as a fisherman or a farmer and make your money that way so you can buy the resources to build whatever you may desire.
Just thought I'd make a quick update to let you know what we've added to Tunuva since we opened.
- Coliseum
An arena for PvP and single player challenges. If you've got an issue with another player take it up with a one on one challenge at the Coliseum. Or if your looking to get some experience come take on the single player experience where you will fight zombies and skeletons. The Coliseum has three difficulty settings so come by and give it a try. This is and the Murderball stadium are the only places I allow PvP and you will be kicked otherwise. (location: Casino)
- Bank/Saftey Deposit Boxes
I have designed an ultra secure lockbox. Using a trick to get a minecart to pass through a block of bedrock I have created an impenetrable vault. Though I have searched, I have never seen anything quite like it. And though I have a strict 'no stealing' policy I cannot be everywhere at once so I am happy to offer my players extra security. There are 20 deposit boxes available and one could be yours for a one 50$(in-game currency) fee. (location: Desert Oasis)
- Haven
A brand new city structure has been built in the middle of the sea. Subway access is available. Would be a great place for a fisherman to set up a new home but it truly is beautiful and all are welcome.
(location: N of Portside. Access via The Portside Docks or Desert Oasis Subway)
Private Contacts Jobs Board:
A small addition but I've had a number of players reach out to me to find them a good builder/redstone engineer, etc... This is why I've included a private contracts board in my jobs hall. Now if you need anything from any player just post a sign on the private contracts board.
Coming Soon!!
A Brand new game at the Casino for a total of 5!
NEW RULES
I won't make a habit of changing rules on people but as this community grows it becomes clear that sometimes Tunuvas policies need to be tweeked.
If you are absent from this server for greater than 30 days the house you claimed will be forfeit (this does not apply to houses you build yourself but if you have been absent for 45 days I reserve the right to demolish it) and you will have to send me another friend request and message to get back on the server.
If you choose to build a house in one of our established cities you must adhere to the style of the city. Of course if you choose to build out in the middle of nowhere or try to start your own town/city than anything goes.
Of course all of the other features are still present and available at Tunuva and new jobs are added all the time.
Due to the overwhelming popularity of Tunuva I've have been running short on room on my friends list which means I can only add on players who are genuinely interested in joining our community. Though I hate to do this I am now accepting applications for new citizens. If you're interested please reply to on this thread with the following information
Age: I have no age requirement but maturity is a must
Mic: A mic is not required but be able to communicate easily is a must. For example, I send XBL messages with my phone if I am not on mic. If you have a similar set-up or you are not opposed to the long, painful process of typing with your controller than that is up to you. I cannot stress enough that communication is important.
Location: This really isn't that important to me but being able to speak fluent English (or close to fluent) is a requirement. Also I find that those who play in the UK end up having more time to play on my servers as I am generally on afternoons and late at night which corresponds well with their timezone.
Additional comments of info that will make me consider you a valuable player: I wouldn't dwell on this too much but that fact of the matter is I am already in the process of sifting through my friends list to decide what players are contributing the community and which players just casual pop by for 20 minutes from time to time. If there is anything in particular that you can tell me about yourself (in relation to minecraft) that may sway me to add you over the other applicants I would recommend you include it.
As much as I would like to keep this world open to everyone, all the time the XBL friends list restriction will not allow it. Most of my community agrees that we have started something pretty special and here and if you are accepted to Tunuva it is a privilege that I will not hesitate to strip it from you if you are not able to follow the rules.
i will be posting Screenshots/Videos in the next few days.
