So I'm gonna ask a question that's been brought up hundreds of times.
What do you think the likelihood of console getting command blocks is?
And if you think it's possible what do you think the challenge would be?
What systems do you think it will be on?
Do you think there will be preset commands or will we be able to map them ourselves?
If you had command blocks what would YOU do with them?
On xbox360 /p s3? i doubt we will ever see them..typing the commands would be a pain, and im not even sure if the system has enough RAM for commands themselves.
ps4/xbox one? possible, but still unlikely.
If i had command blocks I would just use them to make teleporters and stuff.
If we by some chance do get them, it would be preset.

Commands for the most part already exists within, the blocks are just a interface to access them. I'm unsure as to if they will be added or not, as they 'could' be abused'. The block themselves more or less just act as a way to activate that command, and substitute certain parameters.
You have to remember that we will be getting early command blocks, with just a handful of commands, but those commands really should allow taking map making to the next level. That is if we get them.
However as I said earlier there is potential for abuse, and for the blocks themselves to get around 'text filters', and maybe too complex for many to understand and this may lead 4J to skip adding this powerful and very useful block.
You can easily abuse a command block. Especially when it comes to other players. Just like how people troll others in Minecraft with the Host Permissions.
In no way you could abuse command blocks, they are only found in the creative by using a command line to get it in the first place. So on the console, you would need host privileges to get them IMO.
Also, with knowledge I know from modding console, they already have an option to allowcommands, meaning command blocks could be coming in TU sooner than later. I hope that is. There is a lot you can learn from the console really.
Obviously you don't know much about command blocks then do you, lets just take one simple example, maybe the ../tell @p 'some nasty message'.
Obviously some little kid gets the nasty message, tells his mom that the game is sending him nasty messages, mom in turn gets angry and calls m$, and so on.
or maybe the move command to move a player overtop of a lava pit, or better yet whenever they try to leave some 5x5 area tellport them back to the location, ect.
So yeah they can be abused, sure they can only be attained in creative but that don't mean that they can't be used to abuse others when the game is switched back into survival. This is only 2 simple examples, theres plenty of other ways to cause pain to others.

Solution: don't play with people that do that and don't do that to people you play with. Simple.
Solution: don't play with people that do that and don't do that to people you play with. Simple.
The solution isn't that simple.
People come to these forums all the time looking to play with strangers. Either because they don't have friends who play Minecraft or they just want to play with more people than they already do. How are those people supposed to know whether or not the people they're going to play with will abuse the command block for trolling them or not?
It's going to happen to people if command blocks get added. There would be no avoiding it. Will it happen to everyone? No. Will it happen to a lot of people? Yes. There are already people who go and join peoples worlds just to ruin them by blowing things up, dumping lava everywhere, or stealing items from their chests then quitting the game before they can be killed.
Command blocks would have the same potential for people who grief and troll.
Please don't take me wrong, I'm allllll for getting this powerful block, I'm just saying that it might be a reason for 4J to opt not to add it. Yes there is defiantly a lot of useful and helpful ways to use this block and to take MC to a level not yet possible to attain right now, but as I already stated they could be abused. I personally won't have any problems with the block in my world as I have trusting friends, and thought we from time to time troll one another, its generally stopped once one has had enough.

Again. Simple. If they do it don't play with them. If a stranger comes up to you and offers candy I you get in his van, are you gonna stay in the van after he puts on Barry White? Probably not.

Like I said before, how are you supposed to know the person will use the command block to mess with you if you never play in their world in the first place?
So people worried about the command block being misused should just not play with anyone?

I'm assuming you can't actually adress the issues anymore so now you've taken up slight insults. That's usually a sign that someone has lost against a valid argument.
I believe I've made my point and I'll be leaving this thread permanently.
"so lets not add the command block because people can abuse it."
so lets get rid of TNT because people get killed by it and destroyed their beautiful structures,
so lets get rid of Lava since they can burn peoples stuff down and instantly kill players
so lets get rid of enemy's since the host can spam 20 creepers in one spot and kill everyone.
so lets get rid of diamonds since they can kill most people in a hit
so lets get rid of multiplayer support because everybody is complaining about rude people on xbox live.
That is what everybody is literally saying about this game.
Personally, I don't play with random jerks on Xbox live, i play with the friends that I TRUST
not some random stranger that I have no clue whay i'm going to expect.
But don't get me wrong, I enjoy a bit of random people multiplayer from time to time,
I just don't like to be in a game where the host is going to be a tyrant
I vote +1 for the command block, and if a stranger abuses it well I don't play with him.
Like it or not this is how it is within the console world Littleman7, and while I and many others share the same views as you, we have no choice but to go with what the developers deem fit to guide us by, be it text filters, limits on entities and mobs (both passive and hostile). It seems that only those with high following on youtube, ect seem to be able to get their way with 4J, case in point was when some dude whom has a high following cried to 4J about the decreased minecart speeds awhile back, and in turn 4J returned that speed, breaking many possible contraptions and increasing lag for multiplayer I might add.
I've grown to accept this, that the console version has 'imposed' limits, filters, ect in place, and when I feel I want to play without these limits I jump on the PC version, where there is no limits, filters, entity, or mob cap limits.
Again I'm all for command blocks, and for as much of potential for abuse there as much potential for increased game play as well, we will have to wait and see what 4J decides to do, and thus only time will tell.
I don't think anyone here is saying they don't want them because of the risk for abuse, I think people are just pointing out that 4J may not implement them because of the risk.

You are forgetting the the xbox 360/ps3 and other consoles do have gamer reviews thus allowing you to see if they have poor player reviews and percentage. Hence why I have 33% bad, only b/c I modded halo 4 and never wanted play it, just modify it. lol.
Also, it is quite simple. I think the best way for them is that only the host can use it and when in survival, the blocks are not there but still function. That is all I would like. So I can legitly have everyone have night vision, speed, and blindness effects on them *10 permanently so I don't need to use a pc to build my PvP map.
Oh, and btw, he was not insulting you, he kind of was, but you lacked the knowledge of gamer reviews on the 360 hence saying "ignorance is a bliss". ignorance is not an insult, it is better word for using than calling someone an idiot instead. I get called ignorant from my dad sometimes, so yea.
But I'm guessing it won't be in the next update or the later one at best, probably saving the best for last type deal IMO.
Again, not all the functions of the command block would be put in place, but some would is all there is to be. like talking to others via commandblock = no, harassing, no, word restrictions put in place like they did on signs than later removed, so people could still harass others now. In all honesty, trolling will be inevitable in various ways on the console, you just got to give a little trust to the person before hand, that is.
"I was once told to never trust anyone even myself, but you should never not trust anyone until proven to be unworthy of trust."
I think current gen will definitely get command blocks later this year when mods are officially supported and downloadable.
As for abuse of command blocks, that is easy. Leave that player's world. Simple enough
I'm not sure where your getting your information, but I'll bet a load of money that we will NOT be getting 'mods'. Mods are near impossible for the current code. The PC counterpart has a modding api that took years to develop and progress as that game went through version after version. The console version lacks this. Albeit its not entirely impossible, but certainly not for 'the average joe' to make a mod for the console version. I could list tons of reason for this but won't.
Now if your talking about DLC that's a different story, and again won't be something 'we' have much input on, that is unless you have an extremely high youtube following. 4J for the most part doesn't take much input from the community, if you haven't noticed. I could see 4J picking providing DLC based on the most popular MODS. Anyhow enough about that.
As for command blocks, I'm seeing them as a much more likely now that they have added book and quill which they first stated as not gonna happen. As to when, well that's anyone's guess.
Here's a statement that will hopefully start a new conversation about this topic.
how could you even abuse command blocks, say the host(antagonist) doesn't give anyone host privileges in creative and survival, survival you can't even open the block to input a vailed command but say there's a button next to it. owners mistake that's his fault it works the same way as it does it the computer version just take the button away and move the command block somewhere else. Now you say your in creative, you put down the block, you can't get into the block unless you have host privileges you would have to have /op or another command in the computer version for it to work. And say if they find you command block still owners fault they can just put it somewhere they can't get it creative or not. Say they do give the protagonist host privileges and he destroys the server with them. Worked the same way in computer, you just don't give people privileges if you don't trust them fully. So if your saying they shouldn't be added to Xbox why should they be added to pc in the first place.
theres one answer for that is they shouldn't be added till full servers host by players are added with plugins and in game chat, then you can add them for the safety of your world. It takes way too long for that to happen so don't expect it anytime soon may not even come around. Not because they are "abusive" that would make no sense. But if they added them to single player it would make sense to add them to multiplayer people would be happy if that answers your questions for not being able to add them in single player. So I would expect them anytime soon until they create player hosted servers and plugins.ect doesn't mean they have to add those things in it just make sense. That takes some time so don't get excited until those things happen.

they added them....that is all
