Now, my entire city - nearly half the map now, all built right on bedrock - is covered in light bugs. Every time I turn it on, a line forms across the map with hundreds of light bubbles. I just spent the last hour trying to hunt light bubbles, and many of them can't be fixed no matter what I do.
Maybe some time outside will help. There are no light glitches from the sun.
What's so funny? The amount of bugs in MCXBL are appalling, even more so that it's being done twice round. They couldn't even get basic redstone right for months on end (double doors and pressure plates?). The Xbox version is very smooth when it works but the amount of bugs is crazy - PC is so much more stable on the whole.
The thing that really tickles me is that 4J were supposed to be copying Mojang's code and then converting it to whatever the Xbox understands - how can you copy code and then end up with more bugs than were there originally, miss them all through development and cert testing and then take several versions later to fix them?! It doesn't matter how much you try to apologise for them, it's just bad form.
Because at the end of the day, it's different code. One does not simply take code, re-covert it and make it work exactly how it does on PC. Plus, 4J has to code how the xbox loads chunks and the size of the world itself. It's different and it's not a copy. Something could work in Java that they may not be able to get right in C++. It's not as easy as you think it is. I'll apologize for them all day, because they don't deserve to be vilified by people who don't understand the core aspects of their job. 4J does a wonderful job making this game and the bugs are not as bad as everyone makes them out to be. At the end of the day, they give us content updates something almost no other game does. Why should we be upset at them for bugs when no one here understands/knows what happens behind the scenes? Take what you have, or leave.
I haven't seen even half the bugs you mentioned. maybe something is going on in your xbox? but hey, its the way things go. like stated elsewhere, if you don't like it, don't let the door hit you on the way out. I see that you have only made 5 posts on this forum and you have been playing game how long? have you even bothered to check the forums at any time in the last year? oh well, no skin off my nose. just one less whiny kid to have to worry about.

you should read a book on computer engineering and coding. two codes do not run identical. its like saying Chinese people can talk to Japanese people since their languages originated in the same part of the world. and even when you have similar languages like those derived from Spanish origin they still will not translate identically.
i dont know how many times we have to say this cert testing does not bug test the game, it only tests its compatibility with the Xbox, and no amount of testing and reprogramming will find andfix every single but. try this math equation millions of possible outcomes that could inflict millions of lines of code and millions upon millions more with each change now calculate each possible solution and the numerous bugs that would cause, its the butterfly affect in electronic form. in truth the code in an of itself is imperfect since it suffers from the same plethora of issues.
no one has to apologize for 4j. the game has bugs, all programs have bugs, but there has yet to be a bug that makes the game unplayable. so i stand in agreement that these rants are a hilarious monument to the never ending decline of humanity. that people get so outraged by things like bugs in a game they, or should i say in many cases their parents, payed only $20 dollars for when they brush off things far more important and worthy of outrage.
From the TU12 change log: "- Fixed a lot of game lighting issues."
I think the OP has it backwards.
He built his city when the lighting was "wrong".
Now the lighting is "fixed".
He's upset they changed it and wishes it was "wrong" again.

Code the game yourself and see how easy it is. They've done an amazing job considering.
I make it a point to start a new world anyway after every update, just in case something 'breaks'. But the guy does have a point; one would expect 4J to test these things out for light glitches, etc. before releasing to Microsoft.

In software development there is always a point where you have a go/no go decision on the implementation. You review known defects and determine if they are "no go" items, prioritize them and determine what will be let through and worked as a break-fix afterwards and what must be fixed before go-live. Sometimes the pressures of making a release date outweigh small inconvenience type defects and you move forward. I'm sure that everyone would rather have TU12 in August and have a follow up TU13 bug fix than have to wait until Sept for a more bug free TU12.

I'm confused.
Well, that part of the change log is just bogus and everyone knows it. There are substantial lighting glitches that have crept back into the system (unless you are arguing that it is normal for the ground to glow at night - I know they just released mass effect, but I don't recall rad zones even in that game). Hell, I've even noticed burning tree leaves can create an invisible light source. Most of the time, a save and exit will clear the issue but not always.
Regarding bugs, what has always caused me pause is how they manage to "re-create" bugs as they step through the conversion process. Case in point, all the way back in TU3 with the clay glitch. The exact same glitch occurred on the PC; anyone with half a brain should have been able to figure out that the same thing would happen in the ported code. Given that the very next TU implemented the "fix" good business sense suggusted that you wouldn't create work for yourself by porting the "wrong" code and then re-writting it (especially since they don't make any money off of TUs at this point).
He won't fully leave. I'm guessing he will just check the wiki pages every so often to wait for an update to fix his troubles. He will be back, they always come back.
Not true, and I'm here to prove it. I would have preferred a bug-free TU12 in September, or even October, to a buggy one in August.
Except we'll never have a bug-free update. It's the nature of Minecraft. In a game this complex, you can fix one thing and that could end up breaking three other things. You can't expect them to test every game mechanic after each bug is fixed.

The good people, they always die. And the bad people do too...But the weaker people, the people like me, WE have inherited the Earth. -Morgan Jones
I don't see why everyone makes it a point to complain anyway. It's not like the game is UNPLAYABLE with these bugs. There will be bugs in any game you play, some worse than others. I can only think of one time Minecraft was difficult to play and it was due to a FARRRRRRR worse lighting glitch than what exists now. They give us what we ask for, really. We wanted jungles, so we got them. And yet some of you still find something to complain about. My mom used to put soap in my mouth for complaining that much. Jeeez. Ten year olds.
Minecraft on the computer. I just fixed all of your problems with one sentence. You'll probably mention "OH I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY FOR ITTTTTT" Well, then get a job and MAKE some money. You're welcome.

Hello! I'm a average minecrafter just browsing the forums. If you liked what I said/What I said was helpful, feel free to click that little green button!
So that's the way to handle customer complaints around here? Someone takes the time to tell you precisely why they're ditching your product, and the responses consist almost solely of "UR JUST BUTTHURT!!!!@!one!!!" and "but programming is HAAARD!" Good thing you have all these sycophantic fanboys and forum trolls to protect you from any customer feedback. But why would I expect any level of professionalism after what I learned about your company from your product?

Good riddance to bad rot.
Posting on here why you're leaving is not the way to communicate to 4j studios, Mojang, or Microsoft why you are ditching their product. In other words, you weren't telling them, you were telling us. Most of what 4j does on these forums is look through the bug reporting list to see what needs to be fixed, not read people's posts on why they stop playing.
The best way to show them you're done with Minecraft on Xbox is to simply quit playing it. Posting it on the forums is unnecessary. Especially on the Xbox 360 Edition forums, where people who really like the game tend to hang out.

... and precisely where did you get the idea that the Discussion area of the forum was the venue 4J uses to provide it's customer support? The only thread here with any monitoring at all by 4J itself is the Official Bugs List thread. Very, very occasionally they will respond to an individual poster elsewhere, but that is very much an exception rather than a rule.
If it was actually customer support from the company itself you were seeking, then you should have perhaps made sure first that it was the company you were contacting directly, not just a public opinion forum. However, of course, then your post to the company probably would not have been openly displayed on the internet. Most of the professional corporations I know of handle correspondence through their complaints departments privately (if you can even find an email address to send a complaint to for many of them).

Exactly. This is the internet. To achieve your goals on the internet, you need to be able to differentiate between an official vendor of the antivirus you seek and a foreign scam site to steal your credit card number.
You need to know when you are knocking on the front door of your bank's portal or a phishing site.
You need to know when you are posting on a third party forum about a game, versus submitting a trouble ticket to customer support.
If a poster cannot differentiate these things, then we cannot differentiate the poster from a troll.
