Hello everyone. Im a noob. Just wanted to get that outta the way. I just bought the xbox version the other day and absolutely love the game. I never touched the tutorial and got alot of the basic building, crafting done. I still am getting this feeling of being overwhelmed with what to do, but got no clue how to do it. Im basically jsut collecting, building a few houses, and wandering aimlessly. Guys, whats the most fun thing to do.? Where do i find all these magnificent bricks besides the piles of dirt and cobblestone?lol please, anyone have any newb tips??? Thanks!
Ive dug "somewhat" deep without much luck, some coal, i think i found a bit of iron. Not much. How far down does this ground stuff go?. Sorry i sound like a damn 2nd grader when talking bout the game. Im really lovin it so far. Just want to get the most out of it.
If you go to your crafting table and choose the 3rd row in the "Structures" menu you'll get a list of all those blocks. Press X once and it'll tell you what it is, then press X again and it'll tell you what you'll need to gather to make it.
One of the blocks I liked using when I started out was the snow block, mainly because I like modern buildings and the white looked good. Took me ages to realise you needed a spade to dig the snowballs needed to make them!
you sir are a gentleman and a scholar. Thank youa million times for the tip.!
1. Do play in the tutorial world. It's a great world/seed and the tutorial advice boxes will help you through a lot of the basic stuff.
2. Consult the Minecraft Wiki; but keep in mind that it is actually written as a reference for the PC version of the game. There will be differences and items that were added to the PC version that have not yet been added to the Xbox one. Still, there is a ton of valid information there and you'll soon learn how to sift through what is relevant to the Xbox and what is not.
3. Watch videos/tutorials on YouTube. Again, keep in mind that many of these were made using the PC version. If using PC ones, target ones put up about a year ago or earlier.
Ditto on the tutorial world. There is a wealth of knowledge in that world. It will also give you an opportunity to use items that you may not get for quite some time in a normal survival world. I spent probably three weeks tearing apart the structures etc... On the tutorial world and remaking things like I wanted. It's also a good thing to spend a few hours viewing the thousands of videos on YouTube. Just search minecraft Xbox. If you have an idea about something to do, you can almost be guaranteed that someone else has video taped themselves doing it lol.

If you want diamonds. take a map and mine all the way down until your map marks Y:12, then mine in a straight line and you will find a lot of diamonds!

NO, never dig straight down... This guy was joking, haha. You can fall into lava or fall into a large cave/ravine and die, causing you to lose any goodies you may have come across in the process.
My tip: If you find diamond in a dangerous cave, go home rather than try to explore some more.
Thanks for the input everyone. I seen lava for the first time. That was pretty cool, seemed that i was finding gold, diamonds, and redstone near it. Does that seem to hold true everywhere? Near the lava is where the goodies are?

To an extent yes, but that is because lava is close to bedrock, and so are the "goodies" so yes technically.
Oh and welcome to minecraft.

my favorite building material is stone bricks. but i could never get enough for my projects unless i stumbled across the stronghold early. then one day i thought i threw iron in a furnace to make some ingots. but what came out was stone. cook cobblestone in a furnace to get stone which can be crafted into stone brick.
point here is dont hesitate to experiment. worst that can is that you die. if that happens, jjust load your last save.
