I 'd like more involvment with community less lurking in the shadows
I imagine there would be a lot less questions being asked over and over if everything was out in the open like the updates they could release change logs for all future updates and say we hope to have so & so update completed by this date then there'd be so many less " I wonder when the next update is coming out?" Threads
Also a thread for suggestions or content they thought of and are considering adding to the game so they can get feedback no sense in making something only to find out after all your work the players hated something you added saves them time and money
They don't need to be super active answering every single question and stuff just enough to have a presence I feel it would make some of the community feel less like they are talking to a brick wall
I'm not asking for minute by minute updates but it would be nice to have more then figures lurking in the shadows of the forum
Well put

They simply can't answer questions about "when is the next update" because they themselves don't know. They might be able to ballpark when they intend to get an update complete; but then stuff happens and delays it... then, they still don't know how fast Microsoft will get it through certification testing... then, if it fails cert testing, it gets delayed again. I think they have been as forthcoming about this situation as they possibly can; but it hasn't slowed the questions down on here.
Suggestions are tricky... If you respond to one, all of a sudden everyone expects a response or gets angry if the company happens to think it's a lousy idea. Generally, going down the road of "stroking egos" over suggestions leads to more discontent than anything. They have said that they do read the suggestion threads and are considering some of them already... they just are being specific about which ones they are considering to avoid the "you liked his, why don't you like mine" scenario of posting and reposting.
They already have answered some questions personally... not too long ago, they posted a request for specific input from the community on a specific bug and even visited some people's worlds to work out the problem. No matter how much they do post, their will always be people who think that they are not posting enough. Even when they do answer questions, their posts eventually get lost in the melee of ofther topics and people forget that they answered that questions already. It's really a no win situation for them. I agree with the poster who said that if you want to follow their announcements, just follow them on Twitter.

I already follow them on twitter along with skyrim trolls.
What would be sesible for them to do is reply to sensible, well respected people in the community.
Probably anybody over a couple hundred posts that has a fair idea on how things work.
They needn't post to every single annoying post.
Because chances are somebody else will be there first,
Like myself.

Funny how so many people with bad grammar and spelling think they're respected because of post count, i've seen first time posters leave wiser messages than a lot of people. UpUp_Away95 nailed it, you can't explain it any better than that. There will always be people that aren't satisfied, that is life. Hopefully the developers don't bend over backwards for those people and know they are really doing great. Some people don't understand they are trying to be awesome and give free cool stuff, then they are told it isn't good enough.. Seriously blows my mind.

However, you are implying that they should have to respond to every single respectfully worded post despite the possibility that it might be the 50th sensibly worded posted that they have read on the same topic and already answered in some fashion somewhere. They post a lot of info on Twitter and there are other forums where the same questions are being asked... often respectfully. but still repeatedly. Even if they only answered all the respectfully worded posts, it would still take a huge amount of their time... time that would be better spent, IMO, programming the game itself.

When did I ever say they should awnser every single respectfully worded post?
They should not awnser repetitive questions at all anybody else can awnser those in a second.
It's just when I see myself and pairs arguing about flint lock guns in minecraft and rentable servers.
Directing questions at 4J and get nothing back but echo's of things I already know by you guys like 4J once mentioned with this obscure post that they were thinking about servers this one time just before there games release.
It annoys me why not just save a lot of time and say something like it would be too late for servers in the 360 version.
But if we manage to get minecraft on next gen I wouldn't question their implementation.
It's the awnsers to a question that only somebody with inside information could give to us.
Hopefully when both next gen consoles are released theyll start up a new forum just for the next minecraft and ideas that might actually get put in.

When did I say that you "said" that... What I said was that you "implied" it. "Implied," by definition, indicates that you did not specifically say it, but that it could be inferred from what you did say. What you said is that they should respond to "sensible, well respected" people in the community and that people with more than 200 posts should know what's going on... so, are you then saying that people with less than 200 posts are not or could not possibly be "sensible, well respected people in the community" and that their questions to 4J don't deserve a response equally as much as questions from people with more than 200 posts?"
The issue with "inside information" is that it is, more often than not, also confidential information... which would preclude anyone from 4J answering questions that require "inside information." To let something confidential slip out to the public because of participation on a forum would probably cost that "staff" member their job AND end any participation by the company on the forums.

You seem to be taking a lot of meaning out of all my words.
Keep in mind these are quick thoughts put down in the space of a few seconds.
You should not take everything somebody says word for word, dead serious.
I just want more info on what's coming and more to do with the game I spend so much time playing.

If you don't want your statments misconstrued, perhaps you should choose your words more carefully.

That's not going to happen.
We'd all like an insight, and a say, in what the future holds with every game we play, but we're not sitting on the board. Even a hint of one feature that's coming in the next update generates a dozen posts- none of them changing anything.
Posts like this ("I want to know!") do nothing but drive 4J further away.

But why should it?
This is what I mean.
If the community has a fair question or a very very good idea easily worthy of being added.
A awnser to it could fix plenty of confusion in the community.

J4 reminds me of Jagex from RuneScape in regards to their activity on the forums lol. They use to say they were waching. I never use to beleve it and J4 "saying" their active is different from actually "being" active.
But why should it?

The above is a perfect example of what I was saying.
…..
"Here's my Super Idea!"
"Sorry, we can't do that."
"Why not?"
(Then the argument starts and goes on and on…)
"No" is never an acceptable answer to some people. The next is always "Well, why not?"
Besides, a "fair question" or "really, really good idea" is their perception, not necessarily 4J's.
All I'm saying is that yes, they could be more active, but they're not. That's the reality and I don't have a big problem with it.
Well put

Vocabulary too small.

Only simplified so you can't take whatever you want out of it.

No members of 4J Studios are actually forum staff.
