Is there any way to regulate the color of grass? I find myself bothered when I'm terraforming, and the grass color is different in areas where the biomes intersect. The grass usually grows in from the side with the color I want, but it turns another color when it goes over the biome...
Colored grass is not available on creative so that wasn't an option. I like uniformity and consistency do I find it problematic... Any suggestions please?
Unfortunately, there is no way to change it. The grass color is controlled by the biome code and we currently have no means to change the biome.
I have one trick that can help "spruce" things up.I plant spruce trees and make hedges and bushes out of spruce tree "leaf" blocks. These stay the same color regardless of biome, so with a little strategic placement, they can lessen the visual impact of the changes
I sure hope they add the shader for grass, for those that have played pc version, where two biomes meet and the color melds with each other to blend into a smoother transition... that would help things a bit. I believe it was actually based on a single graphic in the tileset that looks like a square with two shades of gray making it 2 triangles... Something like that...
I hope I explained that well... but it is the programming that is behind it mostly that gets complicated as doing the same thing they do with grass now. Basically a border tile. not really a new block, but a new graphical addition.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
Make a new world, The old world's biome's are really screwed up...This has destroyed most of my maps.
This topic has nothing to do with old/new terrain. Transitions between two different biomes occur even in newly generated worlds. My newly generated TU8 world has many, many trees of two colors where the tree itself crosses over the boundary between two different biomes.
I don't think you understand what the OP is talking about, It's not just a few missplaced grass blocks. Its a complete biome change, Sunny villages turned into wintery hellholes. Ice an snow everywhere.
not quite... The OP was talking about the biome transition with the grass blocks... Not old/new world changing(biome shifting)... The person mentions that grass is different in other biomes which makes it difficult to terraform... I can understand it since the grass from one biome to another is not a smooth transition, but a harsh change from one to the other...
Would be nice they had that kind of option though to make it so all grass is uniform in color or change it to a uniform color that you want... something like that... hm....

I don't think you understand what the OP is talking about. The OP has not mentioned climate shift or snow at all; but is talking about the changes in grass colors at the biome boundaries even in newly generated worlds (where no biome/climate shift due to updates has occurred).
As I posted previously, the best disguising feature I've found is to plant spruce trees and spruce leave hedges strategically to draw the eyes away from the most unsightly places where the grass changes color. The spruce leaves (needles) stay the same color of green regardless of the biome in which they are planted. For example, in the tutorial world courtyard there are two or three colors of grass since the castle area spans three different biomes (desert, swamp, and forest). The oak leaf hedges they planted even change color part way through the hedge. So, I've replaced those hedges with spruce leaf hedges and made them wider so that the changes in the grass color in the courtyard area isn't quite so obvious now.
Hopefully when they make the texture packs the grass is all one colour, Can't wait. So tired of this default texture...
Personally, I wish they would revert the vanilla MCXBLA back to having only one color of grass (the bright green in 1.6.6 is OK) and then put different colors in the texture packs with the ability for the player to outline areas where they want the grass to change to a different color. If I could control where it goes, the different colors of grass might be something I would pay extra for. As it is now, it's an annoyance; but I'm not going to buy a texture pack just so I can change it all back to one color.
I have already corrected you once on this (not in this thread it would appear) but the grass colour pre beta 1.8 was not a single colour, it was just much more gradual so it was hardly noticeable. The grass in taiga was still quite dull whereas forests were very green.
I have rather advanced cataracts and low vision in certain lighting conditions, so there was essentially no difference in the color as far I could notice most of the time. In addition, I don't see a huge difference between the forest and taiga now. The irritation with the colors really hits me now when I have desert grass adjacent to swamp grass.. and moreso if there are trees that have leaves in both biomes. I sincerely doubt that the changeovers were any more gradual than they are today. That is, the color changes probably have always occurred on whole blocks only... it's just the that color differences were not all that different.
However, to pacify you, I'll correct my previous post:

In priniciple, it's still the same statement. It just seems backwards to me to pay extra for a texture pack that offers less variety in the color - i.e. to make the grass all one color.
I like uniformity and consistency do I find it problematic... Any suggestions please?
Really? REALLY?
We're looking at a wierd-looking game world made of up of cubes.
If "consistent" grass color is your only problem with the graphics of this game, consider yourself lucky.

Interesting -- what would happen to animal spawns if you covered your grass lands with a couple layers of sand? Would the animals still spawn?
Wait a second....
Stay fluffy~
It's a bit disappointing, but I will just have to keep them as it is... I really do hope a future update adds colored grass options in creative.
You could always just terraform a Superflat world.... Good luck with that, by the way.
How does the color of a few grass blocks on the borders "destroy" many worlds?

Texture packs may eventually solve it... depending, of course, on what 4J puts into them and whether or not the person buys them.
