im working on an elevator and so far the mchanism works jsut fine and the circuit is going well. the only thing i really need at the moment is some way to convert the on off action from a pressure plate into roughly a one tick pulse, that i reliable and wont. anything less than the 1 second pulse of a button would help, the shorter the pulse the better. i know ive seen circuits that can do this i just cant remember how to make them.
ill post some pics of the elevator after ive made some more propgress. but im planning to have a pressure plate that you walk over to enter the elevator and the on/off action will be what activates the pulse. then by the time you are standing in th elevator it will be heading up.
this is what it looks like so far. just a prototype of a simple push pull elevator.
the circut for running the power up is coming along nicely and uses a double pulse.
the elevator at its highest... for now.. th bottuns along the side are reset the elevator untill i get it done and creat the circuit to run the power downward.
im basically im trying to create circuit that will take the on/off output from a pressure plate and turn that into a single ery quick pulse... not so quick it gets lost in the piston lag but quicker than the button.
"You write 'Born to Kill' on your helmet and you wear a peace button. What's that supposed to be, some kind of sick joke?
...how about getting with the program? Why don't you jump on the team and come on in for the big win?"
i could quote that entire movie!
and i think ill steal your idea. ive watned a timed elevator too, but put it off until i finished my build. think i might just "jump on it" now! thanks!

yes. love that movie. plus my clan tags jokr. so it just fits.
i prefer these to zipper elevators. they feel more like actual elevators. they are far more complex to me. the zipper elevator is pretty much copy, paste, copy, paste. but with the glitchy pistons its far more unreliable over long distances... if you figure anything out let me know im having some trouble getting the power cycle right so that it powers the pistons in the right order. its the double pulse and keeping the order of the powered blocks straight thats killing me right now. may have to tear the circuit apart and redo it again.

The redstone line is your input, the off torch on the left is the output.
4 Blocks
3 Redstone
2 Red Torch
1 Repeater (full delay)

my circuit works fine with zipper elevators. its the pistons lagging out that cuases me problems.
