Hey guys. I have seen some awesome suggestions come from these forums and I was hoping for an equally awesome brainstorm for an idea I'm trying to work out. I want to put together a CTF arena on my map for my buddies to play in. Here's what I have so far:
-The arena is 50 blocks wide and 100 blocks long, essentially having 2 identical but opposite sides.
-The arena is hovering one block over a body of water with obsidian walls and floors and no diamond tools in the arena. That way if they somehow get through the obsidian floor they will fall to the water and won't be able to get back into the arena.
-Built on top of the obisian floor is 10 layers of dirt and stone to be used however the team wants
-The bases are built ontop of the 10 layers of dirt and are fully encased in obsidian also with limited doors and a central staircase that gives access to the roof and the flag
- Next to each base is a small mine with iron ore and gold ore mixed into the stone which can be mined if desired by each team to make weapons or armor. On the opposite side of the base are a few trees, like wise available for tools and swords.
-Lava and water traps will seperate each base in direct mid field with bridges to the far left and far right of the field to cross.
Those are most of my ideas as of now and the beginning of the construction of the arena. Can you guys think of anything I have missed or that should be included ? Thanks in advance to whoever helps me out
Good call, I'll make sure the lava goes all the way to the floor. Didn't think of that. Once you mine gold or iron ore they are placed in your pack in brick form until you smelt it down in the furnace so you are able to place them anywhere you want and they are just like another block. That way if they want to swords or anything then they have to dig real quick for the ore and then run inside the base and smelt it. I am The flags are on top of the building in a 2x2 square flag on a pole so that they are visible from both sides so you know if someone has your flag. One flag is sandstone and the other is cactus becasuse we found those 2 to be the easiest blocks to break quickly.

Ahh, god, I can't believe I didn't realize that. When I read you placed ores I thought, "Wait, shouldn't that require silk touch? We can't enchant yet..."
Have you thought about making watchtowers or like guard towers with bows and arrows? I mean its just a thought but you sound like you have an awesome idea now. Would you ever consider playing on it with other people besides your friends now? If so just send me a message sometime.

How'd you manage to place the ores where you wanted them? Did you really just get that lucky? What are you using for the flags?
