File size is a large issue, yes. Another large issue is time. See, they are riding high right now from all the sales. They know how large the market is, at this moment, for the game. Too much time between updates could cause players to move over to the PC version, (ones that haven't already been playing it) and that would shorten their market potential with DLC. Its always best to strike while the iron is hot, so to speak, so keeping these updates flowing is also keeping players playing. Which means they will see DLC, and then buy it.
File size restrictions keep the costs of maintaining servers low, while getting updates fast keeps player counts high for DLC sales. Its pretty simple business logic.
Hopefully this update doesn't reach the maximum file size limit without breeding
I really want breeding in the game, but dot animals respawn in the current version? if they dont then you a magnet for passive animals becuase every time i go out my house there is tons of animals.

In the current version, animals respawn. To me this can get very annoying when you are building in a large area and 10 animals are partying in your front yard and porch. The next versoin, if done identical to the pc, will have no animal respawning and no breeding. This is obviously a problem, because we will go from an excess of animals to extinction of pigs, chickens, wolfs, etc.
Btw for those wanting an answer now now now.....um are you guys fools there is this little thing happening called the Olympics happens every 4. Years this year its in London. And .....Europe is Mindanao crazy for that stuff....
I was completely unaware of this issue and would have been quite disappointed to find that I had managed to bring extinction to all animals in my world (especially because I plan to continue playing on my world that I've spent quite a lot of time in already). I would love to see breeding moved forward to the 1.8.2 update. Please keep us updated with any news!

The breeding would be cool but, I believe the best solution is to not nerf the respawn. Then again, they knew about the mobs while sleeping bug while coding 1.6 so..... I guess we just have to wait.
Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.
That's why there's shears...Also, just don't kill all the pigs! :I
But yeah, I do kind of wish breeding was pushed up to 1.8
Probably will, lighting and some textures were pushed up to 1.73

Thats not really a solution. In the example I gave before, I'd need 35+ sheep at best to make enough wool just to line a walkway...and a small one at that. For the same thing done in string I'd need 900+ spiders. Thats not a night of farming. Thats not even a week of farming. Even with good mob grinders you aren't getting 900 string in a day. And thats just for a small walkway. If I wanted to add flooring to the castle beyond that I'd need, and this is a rough guess without even thinking about the math, probably 3000 more spiders, assuming they all drop something, to touch that project.
Thats not a solution, its a slap in the face man. You might as well have said don't build anything till december. Hell, it would take nearly as long just to collect the string. And, once again, bread is not an early game solution. See, right now...this isn't a big deal. No hunger bar, eh? Well...that changes. Now, hunger means healing is easy. But it also means food supply is demanded from the word go. Right now you can go awhile without needing food, just by making a small shelter and waiting nights out. Once hunger hits, you will die for not eating. Day 1 you aren't making a farm. Not while also making shelter and tools and setting up lights. Even if you did, you aren't actually GETTING wheat from that farm till day 2-4. This assumes you can get seeds quickly AND have a convenient water source to work with...as you won't be getting iron buckets for some time....unless you magically found a supply of iron AND coal next to each other right on the surface. And you got lucky with seeds on nearby grass on the surface. And you had trees in abundance in that same area.
Do you see how unlikely all that is? I'm certain such a map seed exists. I'm also certain that it doesn't make the situation better. Even on worlds that have been played for a long time....sure eating is solved, but building interesting and pretty things is still out. So...you don't die, but your ugly house makes you question whether or not it was worth spending all this time just to build the same thing you could have done back when minecraft only had cobblestone to play with.
Yay, thats the game I wanna play...I tell ya whut.
1.8 changes so zombies do not drop feathers; in 1.8 the only way to get feathers is from dead chickens. The only reliable way to fight creepers for gunpowder is with arrows...

Not to mention the hunger bar ...
Using a bow is not the only reliable way to fight a Creeper. I use nothing but a sword and have stacks upon stacks of gunpowder.
Also, the hunger bar will still be easy to manage without food from animals. Bread, Melons, and Mushrooms.
Well at least for now as said before we know about the possible problem so get your wheat farms sorted now and always carry shears to collect as much wool as you carry. Same with string, chops, leather, etc.Stock up for the inpending nuclear winter!!! This cold war just got HOT
Then, years from now, when new friends come visit your world and ask, "why do you have 100,000 wool?" you can say,"It was the summer of twenty-twelve...and we knew the animals would come sparse through the cold months. Had to shear sheep uphill both ways for a solid month to weather the time to follow....and its was a time indeed. The lands were barren as far as the eye could see...the only sounds came at night and hungered for our flesh. My partner Jim, he went a little out of it back then...stayed locked up in his old shack by the river. When we all finally came to, we checked on Jim one day. He had zombies penned up down there, in his basement. Each one had a sign...one for chicken, one for cow, and there was egg and milk just rotting everywhere. We never figured out how old Jim got milk from a zombie, and we were a damn sight frightened to find out. When we finally found him, he was dead laying in a massive sarcophagus made of colored wool and leather. The plaque, his final words, read, "Hur lys Jim, ded frum breedin cows wif chickens." They were dark times, very dark times."

If I am correct, sheep don't regenerate wool in 1.8. This would leave you with lot of hairless sheep
Both are tedious for many players especially the second one
Yep
