Recently XBLAFans had a Livestream with Roger Carpenter, one of the devolpers on the Microsoft end of Minecraft XBLA (i call it MCX) and he has released new information on several questions surrounding the game. Below is most of the information covered in the 2 hour Livestream, and i hope this info helps clear up some of the misleading threads in this forum.
First off There will be a small update in about 2 weeks which will be mostly bug fixes. But from the information in the Livesteam Carpenter also talked about clay becoming more common and maybe a warning message about placing Lava near the spawn. There will be another update sometime in July which is the 1.7.3 Update which will include Pistons.
Another major announcement is that UPDATES WILL BE FREE. But DLC will not be free.
The rest of the information covered in the Livestream is below and HOPEFULLY is correct.
Features coming in the next 2 weeks: (Internal Fix/ Title Fix)
- Clay will be easier to find
- Players will be warned about placing lava near the spawn
-Bug fixes:
----- Leaderboard crash fixed
----- Facebook snapshot fixed
----- Duplication Glitch is fixed
----- Bed Glitch fixed
----- Reset inventory Button Fixed
----- Nether and Nether Portal Bugs Fixed
----- Some Save Game Bugs Fixed
----- Lava Buckets in Furnaces Bug Fixed
Features in 1.7.3 update (sometime in July )
- Pistons
- Shears
- Stackable Fences
MISC. INFO:
- They Started in 1.6.6 Because thats where Mojang wanted them to start
- No paying for updates (HOORAY!!), But you must pay for DLC
- Auto Save is Coming
- There will be some Bugs in the updates that were also on PC
- No manual crafting
- No text chat (no plan for it)
- Seeds will eventually be available after creation
- For big updates (like Ravines, Strongholds, Mineshafts) you will have to start a new world.
- No new achievements unless there is DLC (which you have to pay for)
- They have a "road map" for the MCX to be updated to the PC
- After 1.8 update, the Next update will be 1.0.0 (YEA!!)
- There will never be infinite maps, but it could get bigger at some point
- The MCX is called a "moving target" which means it will be moving through the updates like the PC version (but not at the same time length)
- No in-game commands or console for Keyboard users ( as said by Notch )
- There will be MCX exclusive features (some small, some big)
- Kinnect features will be available, but not yet
- THEY (4j and the guys from Microsoft involved with MCX) ARE VERY ACTIVE IN THE FORUMS.
Stuff they are Looking into:
- Larger Worlds
- Bigger Mulitplayer world ( More World )
- Private Server
- PVP Button
- Sharable Maps
- Splitscreen on SD (but probably not)
- HUD Fading

Stuff he could NOT talk about:
- DLC
- Texture Packs
- Mods
- Skins
- E3

Well, they said that the 'core' minecraft stuff would be free - so I'd bet that if it's something in the PC version it'll be free. So I'm guessing that DLC might be stuff like hi-def/photo texture packs and stuff. Things you can use that don't change the core game.

Now thats an Idea!! i didn't think about HD textures as DLC, though it could bring other problems to the table, like saying that 4J is playing just to HD TV owners. But thats defiantly a possibility.

Hello darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again because a vision softly creeping left its seeds while I was sleeping and the vision that was planted in my brain still remains within the sound of silence
i didn't think about HD textures as DLC, though it could bring other problems to the table, like saying that 4J is playing just to HD TV owners.
HD TV's have been a requirement for over 3 years (since Feb '09 when broadcasters made the switch). People had years of warning to upgrade. 4J should "play to just the HD tv owners"- it's the "standard" now, and has been for quite a while.
Back OT, I'm not surprised at all that we'll have to pay for DLC (I expected that), and their not commenting on texture packs or skins means only one thing: of course they'll be DLC. 4J should get paid for the "extra" work.
Great to find all this info in one place! I was hoping there would be mention of skins (I imagine that will be DLC) and a distinct lack of autosave, at least in the way that it works on PC (I like being able to actually save and reload on the XBox), but still some awesome stuff in teh works.
Mods... PLEASE pin something to try and help people from constantly starting new "when is minecraft being updated" or "what updates are comming" threads.

Also, why wouldn't they charge for DLC? I don't know anybody that likes doing work for free. Just like you Geneo, I expected it the whole time.
On twitter when they were first discussing autosave they said something about it being a check box on the menu somewhere. I too hope this makes it in.
