I gave it a deep thought before, and weighed the pros and cons of whether I should get it or not. And the cons outweighed the goods for me personally.
Pros:
No lag in single player, and my PC lags a lot lately.
Easier Multiplayer.
If I got this version, I would have the regular version, pocket edition and Xbox edition. I would have every version of Minecraft.
Split Screen so my family and friends can play with me if they want.
Cons:
I already have a PC in the next room over, why should I play single player on xbox when I can play on my PC?
I heard multiplayer lags a lot, around 15 fps. Around the same I get on PC multiplayer.
Easier multiplayer is coming in 1.3 anyway for free.
I don't want to have to buy Minecraft for the third time. (20 bucks is a lot)
Very small worlds. I'm used to infinite.
No mods, plugins, skins or texture packs.
My biggest issue is the game is still in 1.6. It's missing so many features that were added since 1.7. Like Hunger, Magic, Enchantments, Villages, The End, Jungles etc. (I could go on for pages).
No creative.
And I don't expect it to update anytime soon. When it does update, the PC version will have updated also, so the xbox version will always be behind.
(Edit) Requires HD tv for split screen.
(Edit) Can't turn your head and jump at the same time.
Care to try to change my mind to convince me to buy it?
I should have said this also. But a few people mentions that you can't turn your head and jump at the same time because of the control scheme. That could be a minor problem.
Thats coming in a later update. From what i've heard, they are planning to do the updates fast. I don't think they are planning to demolish their own reputation... Yet again, when it comes to money..... Money > Customer in buisness terms.
actually, the customer is more important, because money comes from the customer

Its nothing to do with that, the simple fact is that the SD size would make it unplayable. Yes I agree they should have told people beforehand but still, nothing will change the fact that the SD screen has too low a resolution to display what is needed at the size thats readable. common sense really.
Tell that to every game company who has ever released a split-screen game (and yes I'm saying every single one). There is actually no common sense behind it at all.
I for one have several HDTV's but wanted to play minecraft splitscreen on our projector (and many people don't have hdtvs at all so can't play period).
People who have low quality screens know that they won't be getting a good image but thats no reason to remove a feature entirely (there is no logic behind it at all). Just make a quick note to players saying "if your not playing in 720p or above you may have problems viewing messages, dialogue, etc."
Saying it is common sense is just laughable.
Either way I won't be purchasing it now until this is updated/fixed.
I just found a dungeon and guess what.... THERE ARE NO ****IN CHESTS IN IT.... like come on was that soo hard to put in the game a chest with ****in loot....

Are you sure? Some dungeons in the PC versions don't have chests either.

I did not realize not having an HD was an issue. My TV is pretty old also. Another reason for me not to buy.

I have not once found a dungeon in the PC version with out atleast 1 chest... but if you say soo ill keep playing for a bit and look around.... the Monster spawners dont show what monster will spawn from them either... it only shows the pig floating in the middle

I won't try and convince you to get it, but I will let you know some things about the con list.
1. Personally, I switched over to my 360 because I enjoy playing games with my set of friends on there, that don't have a good computer/Minecraft on PC.
2. You heard wrong...
3. The next 360 update will be going from 1.6.6 to 1.2. No set date though, and no idea when. (Update will be free, too)
4. Well, then don't if you don't want to...
5. I agree with this, definitely a valid con, but I'm hoping they come to a solution.
6. I'm not sure about mods, but I believe skins and texture packs might be getting added. Not as many options as PC though, obviously.
7. Well, it will be updated straight to 1.2 next update.
8. When it updates, creative will be added, just like the other features.
9. It won't *always* be behind. Once they catch up I imagine the updates will come out at about the same time.
10. Required HDTV for split screen is true, but this was a decision by the developer. I'm hoping they realize they made a mistake and fix it.
11. Never had that issue? Just tried it... What do you mean?
Also, the update will be pretty fast compared to how long it took for the PC, since they know exactly what needs changing.
My point is, a lot of your cons will eventually be invalidated.
i disagree cuz the i also have it for the comp but this is just so much better, i dont know y and you dont need an 720p hdtv with an hdmi to play splitscreen
Pros:
Thats true. The screen will be to small if you have a small tv for split screen.
I forgot to say the game does not even have pistons yet.
1. its pretty much the norm that most people now have hdtv's
2. pistons weren't added until 1.7... we're still in 1.6.
If they manage to update the game to whatever the latest version of Minecraft is at the time. Then i'll consider it. Still probably no though.
probably wont be up to the pc version for a few months.
Then the answer is 100% no until then.
Also off topic, but what happened to the Kinect ability we were promised?
