I Highly doubt they will make us pay for our skins, but I could be wrong, Microsoft may not like the idea of linking anything to put something in the game as it may change the rating around, also probably the reason why they dont allow custom gamerpictures, see where im heading at?
my hopes is for there being either A: a linked account to your mc profile on the pc or b: there being a linked database where you upload a skin on pc and then download it from your xbox. if i have to use a default or pre-made skin i will be dissapointed(though not nearly as much if it was our avatar).

there are ways to get your own personal gamer picture. you can either a:take a pic of your avatar(technically your own custom pic) B: use windows media center to upload a picture from your computer or C: use a kinect and take a picture of yourself.
Sheesh people! Did your neck just nob off and grow hair?
How are you gonna get your HD avatar in a low def game? "Convert" it somehow so it looks "something" like your avatar? Get real.
Skins might be DLC, might not, might be some selectable ones in the game, might not.
We don't know for sure about skins, if any. Heck, we don't know for sure about anything right now!

Xbox has custom gamer pictures, but you needed to have the Xbox Vision Camera.(It's like a camera for Xbox) But they discontinued it.
i hope you can import skin's aswell or have a few selected that are most downloaded or voted to be in the game would be great! and i hate the idea of playing as your avatar thats kinda stupid SORRY!
Wanna know how I know you re wrong? There are multiple videos from Minecon and the Minecraft XBLA trailer that show your character is still the same old Steve from Minecraft PC.
As I said in another thread. "No one knows until it comes out." Unless someone here happens to work for Mojang. No? Didn't think so.
Couple things to make note of though, for people discussing this.
- They probably had the default "Steve" skin in videos and while playing the demos and stuff, simply due to not having a proper sign in or anything(assuming proper skins are in the game)
- If they have it so you can connect your minecraft account to your minecraft xbla account, and use that skin, the main site will have to be updated a bit, seeing as you can't edit your skin without buying a copy of the pc version of minecraft.
- I doubt it will use your 360 avatar, considering it doesn't fit with the game at all, and there's already videos of people use "Steve" as a character. (I believe one of the "minecraft rip-offs(as people call them)" tried the 360 avatar thing, and it looks really odd actually.)
My guess is that skins won't be implemented right away, and everyone will simply have to be Steve for a bit. Eventually an update would get released(along with the minecraft site being changed a bit) allowing you to use your minecraft account's skin.
Another fun option, which is simply an idea I think would be interesting, would be a skin editor. Where you get a basic 3D model of steve, and you get a pixel brush and can simply draw directly on it, then save the skin to your xbox and/or minecraft xbla account.
I have seen a screenshot of a splitscreen login for xbox minecraft. The both players had skins, its really simple.
1. You log in
2. It gives you your skin like on pc.
Thats it
Can you give us a link to prove your statement. Also does this link prove that whatever you had seen was on the xbox.
Again look at total miner forge. They have 30+ skins for your character in the game.
