Sorry but I am still having problems with the gold. I have chopped at least 10-15 gold blocks and I have NO gold in my inventory. I know they are gold blocks because it takes about 30-45 seconds to completely chop
the block, much longer than iron. I am using a iron pick and I have plenty of room in inventory.
Same thing goes for redstone. I have mined at least 10 but so far, no redstone in my inventory.
I even found some diamonds, tried mining them but nothing in inventory either.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Dana
First thing that comes to mind is that you need to make sure you're using an Iron Pick and not a stone or wood one. Mining Gold shouldn't take 30-45 seconds with an Iron Pickaxe. Gold, Redstone, and Diamonds all require an Iron Pickaxe to actually get the resource from them so that leads me to believe you're using a stone pickaxe and not your iron one.
Ok, so Bricks? What's the secret.
I have 500+ bricks, can figure out how to place them.
I googled the question, just kept getting how to make them.
Thanks!
Also" UPDATE 9PM EST WOOOOOOO!
I'm assuming you mean "can't" place them.
Bricks can be placed on any surface; I don't see why there's a problem. Try making different floors (planks, cobble, etc etc.) as your testing grounds. If none of them work, we haz a problem.

You are correct, I can't place bricks. Perhaps my problem is trying on sand and dirt.
I have 2 MORE questions.
1) I build a house and put wooden slabs as flooring. Then couldn't place any items down. (Bed/chests/furnace) how do you make flooring?
2) Carpets...see plenty of them on youtube. Dyed wool, is it just like placing blocks.
Thanks in advance for the help...can't play tonite, so getting my fix on the forums

Slabs won't work unless you have two slabs on top of one another to create a full set block. Otherwise your stuff either floats in the air, or does not place at all. I'd just dig on space lower and place wooden planks because slabs look exactly like planks.
Yes; dyed wool is just like any other block that can be set. It's flammable, so be care if you have a fireplace!

You were right. I was using stone and not iron. Now I have plenty of gold, diamonds, redstone, etc. THANKS A BUNCH.

Have you formed your bricks into blocks? This got me the first time I tried to build with bricks. I took them out of the oven and tried to place them and nothing happened. Turned out you had to then take your stack of bricks to a crafting table and form them into brick blocks. Can't remember exactly where it's at, though I think it was in the decorations tab where you can make blocks of other material like iron or gold. Anyways its buried somewhere in the crafting options. The option is not immediately visible when you scroll through, you have to scroll up to find it.

Checked it when I played today. Turns out its on the first tab. Just go over to where you craft sandstone blocks (third over I think) and the brick blocks are one or two up.
urm yeah i was wondering you know with all the updates that have been happening if you started a world when it first came out would it get the add on updates like clay regeneration and slime added in or would you have to start an new world every time something is added.
You have to start a new world to receive new world generation features such as Clay Generation. However you dont have to start a new world to get updates to the crafting system such as Pistons and shears.
Does anyone know, this is about 1.2.3, but I was just curious if I have my main world, which is a 1.6.6 world will it have features like enchantment tables? Just want to know, so if I get too attached to it.

yes, you will be able to get enchantment tables. you may not get brewing stands though because Blaze haven't been introduced into the game yet...so that's still known.

Nope, probably never will be a way. Also, I think it's 12 minutes, not 10.

1.8.2
A month or two (doughtfully 3) away
No slimes spawned in 1.6.6 so they'll spawn in your world. But they're quite rare
