This is also a big question on my mind. I happen to enjoy painterly a lot and would be curious if i could have it as an option if i got the xbox version. Of course how would one customize a texture pack on the console anyway?
You really hate the default texture pack that much?
YES! If I wanted to play a game that looks like an old 8-bit game from 20 years ago, I'd spend the $15 on a Nintendo.
That said, I doubt that texture packs will be available for MC XBLA. For one, I don't know of any XBLA games that allow user-created DLC... and that's where your PC texture packs come from. Mojang has already stated that they prefer the (IMO crude) default textures, which is why we still need a third-party patch to use HD textures.
Those of you who prefer an antiquated, low-fidelity appearance needn't weigh in on the discussion - you're free to use it. Some of us prefer a more immersive, visually appealing appearance to the game. It's not as if gameplay is sacrificed in any way.

"Don't know why you should feel that there's something to learn... it's just a game that you play."
Because those texture packs are done by the game's developers - and, as I said before, Mojang believes we should all play with the Default textures. That's why we need a third-party mod to even use HD textures on the PC.

yes to use HD textures, they dont care if you use other texture packs, if they did why would they have a texture packs panel?
I would assume that you could make your own texture packs by transferring the xbox files onto your pc with a flash drive and then modding them yourself. It would probably be a lot more difficult than the pc version.
Halo lets you make custom maps, but that's about it for user dlc. I hope they will have texture packs, but this is microsoft we're talking about. They didn't let steam connect with live, so I don't see how this would work without the creators including some of their favorites in the game itself.
I wish it had mods though. My house just won't be the same without the giant windmill on the third floor.
the diference between PC/IOS/Andriod and Xbox is the ability to access the files.
SO, its safe to say that NO, there will not be texturepacks UNLESS you mod your xbox, but if you do that, you wont be able to play online risk getting permabanned. your choice.
Well. Even if they managed to get textures on the xbox. The console is limited to its 512mb of ram. so really that means that i dont get to use my 512x texture pack. I dont think my console could THINK of running it. I could only see some developer being all smart and releasing an indie game that adds the TEXTURE that you want to your minecraft from a list of already made textures. IT would pull off from a extensive list or something. Thats the ONLY way i could see it working. Because they didnt give the option to CHANGE it so that would seemingly mean that in order for one to ADD a texture pack you would need to access your HDD of your xbox with the minecraft file on it and edit the files though a transfer cable. I see it being possible for someone to do. But not the average person that doesnt know alot about hacking and editing files on a Xbox HDD. Nothing is impossible to do, you just have to be willing to put in the effort.

And you call yourself a true Minecraft player. Nothing is wrong with vanilla graphics. I personally think that they have a great nostalgic feel to them. If you really hate the 8-bit look to the game...I'm guessing then one of the only games you have ever played is COD...

Why wouldn't you? Total mine and fortresscraft (minecraft clones on the 360) both have texture packs, why wouldn't minecraft?
