Have Villagers SELL Melons, Pumpkins, Cocoa Beans, and other biome dependant items for when your world doesn't generate a biome that they spawn in naturally.
Been working on a world since the release of TU32 only to find out that I don't have a jungle and no mineshafts to find any Water Melons. I've got a lot of work done in this world and it's really upsetting that I can't use Melons or Cocoa Beans.
Villagers will currently BUY melons, but they don't SELL them. Make it a Farmer, as it would be a more logical choice.
wouldnt gardner be more right to sell saplings as well maybe even
flowers and cactus for worlds that dont have cactus due to only having
beaches not deserts
the gardner could be like cleric but green instead of purple and have cocoa beans
Not really the point I'm making. They can call it whatever they want. I only suggested a Farmer because it's already in the game and that it, well, farms stuff already. But that's beside the point.
And if you read my suggestion, I said items that are biome dependant, so that would also mean cactus also. (But to be honest, I've never seen a seed without a single cactus before)

Yea, I've built a trading station and it's pretty much useless when they all trade the exact same thing. So ejecting a farmer to see if a different farmer will trade something better is pointless now.
The only thing that is different is how much of an item you need to trade something with them.
Next time I start a new seed I'll have to make sure it has all the important things first before spending weeks building only to find out I can't make healing potions without any melons.
No mineshafts, the nether fortress has no chests. Pretty Mesa biome and a ocean monument though. LOL! *sigh* I have to keep doing that to stop thinking about how much time I've spent on a seed that doesn't have the important things. heh. :/

From what I've come to understand from other users and 4J developers, adding mobs is actually a big deal, even if it is to 're-add' them after completely removing them. Something with having to make a new AI for it, maybe, I dunno'....
Changing up the swappable items the current villagers trade may be the easiest, quickest, and logical thing to do IMHO. I don't think it's necessary to make it too easy by adding a new villager that will offer everything. I think the idea of keeping it random like it was before the Villager makeover would be better. One Farmer trades carrots, potatoes, wheat, Cake, and apples, but then a different Farmer may only trade Apples, cake, Melons, Pumpkins, cocoa beans, then a different Farmer would trade something different, and so on.
I'd just like to see it get done faster and added right away rather than have it get buggy adding a new feature like a new mob. The Coders and Developers philosophy is K.I.S.S. and it is for a reason.

Just so I'm not mistaken. Has anybody gotten a Villager that SELLS Melons in the latest update at all? I've still tried to max out all the tradable items in the Villagers in my Villager Trading farm in hopes that one would magically offer to sell me melons. I know I'm probably wasting my time, but I'm desperate. Too much time spent on this seed and so many hours on builds to just give up.
I am a strict Survival only player, so switching to Creative is not an option for me.

Hey, if you're lucky, search deep in as much caves as possible. Find some spawners (Because those things are like candy), hopefully you can find some in their chests. However, I was wondering. If you cannot get a jungle tree then how will you plant the coco??

Good tip. I did find two spawners already, but both came up moot.
Q: If you cannot get a jungle tree then how will you plant the coco??
A: You don't, you would have to continue to trade with the villagers. Unless one sells saplings.
the tu31 above says no but tryed legacay and it has a lot try legacy on it it says 7 on that seed you could try it see if legacay does show up you said your world was before temples wasnt it ?
Yeah, I saw that too. Believe me. But I started this seed when TU32 came out for the Mesa Biome, and the Ocean Monument.
I already created several builds and had several days in already before realizing, no Melons or mineshafts.

yes do the size it says then make a small staircase along 1 of the walls clearing out the rest layer by layer so you would be clearing 90 to 95% of the chunk
LOL! WHAT???
I'd rather just create a new world with the same seed and go in creative and just dig down... to see first then go back into my survival world.
I dug a slim farm from top to bedrock, not doing that again.

Also, you can try killing witches. They tend to drop some nifty things sometimes. The weirdest too, I actually think I remember my girlfriend getting melon seeds from one. I can't remember if that was what that was but it is worth a try.
As much as I really didn't want to do this. I've decided to put my current world on the back burner. If they add this feature in from my request, I will return to it.
Going to find another seed with all the important biomes and start all over.
Hey @4JStudios ya' listening!?!?!?

Supported, I've similar issues in some of my worlds, unfortunately survival strictly so I just made do but it's a severe hinder though :/
It is always better to be odd, than to be normal- For how would you ever see the oddest incredible beauty that is life?
Definite support. That and sell saplings of trees that aren't generated.
I've bought melons before from farmers, did they change that in one of the recent updates?
무세이 알렉스, remember the name.
