For the coordinates, they are either (x,z) or (x,y,z)
I am on the Minecraft Playstation 3 tutorial world, where I have titled the world Trophies because it's the world for trophies. It is pure survival, and I went to several slime chunk finders and they all said (0,0) to (16,16) was a slime chunk. I went to these coordinates and went down from layer 35, and went up 5 layers for my slime farm. I have a lot of lights, yet skeletons and zombies have spawned here and only one slime has. I know they are rare, by the way. The coordinates for my skeleton farm are (82,50,-61). I can't upload pictures, because I don't have a URL for them. Only one skeleton and one or two zombies have spawned here by the way.
Your to high you need to go to bedrock and then up, I have a slime farm on my server I have it start at bedrock and the first room is 4 high for large slimes, the next two levels are only 2 high. I have put a wall of glass on one side with doors to all rooms and stairs. First day I got over 100 slime balls with a looting sword.
Sleighty's right, remember to be one block above bedrock as slime do not spawn on the bedrock itself, use jack'o'lanterns embedded in the floor or ceiling as they are a solid block and therefore allow mobs to spawn on them, while also giving off light.
Not sure about then not spawning at bedrock level mine is, remember it's still say level 4 as it's never flat. I'm sure I've had slimes that low, but not sure so I will check it out.
Official release1.2.112w07a As the max world height of the Nether was increased to 256, but Nether world generation is unchanged, mobs and Mushrooms were spawning on top of the Bedrock ceiling. 12w07b Fixed crash when mobs were spawned above the world height limit by no longer allowing animals to spawn on bedrock.

So build four layers above bedrock? Got it. I also built from layer 13 to 17/20.. Looks like my pickaxe is gonna go out soon And it is unbreaking III. I did find 5 diamonds mining my 13 to 20 though. These are the boring moments of Minecraft. That doesn't help why mobs are spawning there though. On my layer 13 one, there is torches all on the floor, on every block, and torches on most of the walls, yet mobs like zombies are still spawning there, even in day time.
I checked my slime farm today which is at bedrock or on my map level 4. I had 2 large and 1 medium slime spawn.
All 3 levels gave me 4 large and 5 medium. 56 slime balls.
First off, you've found a slime chunk. So that's half the battle.
If you want only slime to spawn then you need to add more lighting. I used jack'o lanterns as they are brighter then torches and s limes can spawn on them. So I don't loose a possible spawn cause a torch was in the way.
After you increase the light levels of your room. You will have to make sure you light up or flood all the nearby caves so that the only place anything can spawn is in your slimefarm and with high enough light levels, all that will be spawning are slimes.
It took me roughly 10 hours to complete my farm and flood/light up nearby caves. I also flooded the surface world directly over and around my spawner so the farm works well durring the day or night.
Finding all the caves around the spawner is difficult. But if you goto youtube and lookup mc ps3 glitched blocks. You will save yourself a lot of time as the glitched block allows you to see through the world and find the caves.
I got lucky and have 3 spawn chunks connected together in an L shape. Currently 3 separate floors with a 3 wide gap around the whole thing so the slimes just jump down to the bottom floor. Not uncommon for me to have 5 large slimes at a time.
So yah, I rambled on a bit there sorry. Lighting and nearby caves. Make sure you take care of those and then you should be set.

Please? Any help at all? They aren't spawning, and I dug 20 something blocks away, just standing here. I know they are really rare, but I am on hard and I have been standing around for about 10 to 20 minutes with nothing. This is the layer Y 4 area, by the way.
Tips are, they spawn at night, do something for a minute on ground above the slime farm, they spawn more with a full moon or no moon can't remember which one. Then make you way down to the farm, you need to be more then 30 blocks away and no further than 100.
Hope that helps.
On ps3 version you only need to be 24 blocks away for them to spawn. I can stand in the middle of one chunk and they will spawn in my other 2 chunks.
If they aren't spawning for you, that means mobs are spawning in a cave near your slime farm.
Did you youtube the glitched blocks yet so you can see the other caves around you? While making my farm and setting up glitched blocks I could see creeper and zombies in other caves close by. And they could see (or sense) me as they would look at me while trying to get to me. I also spotted 2 spider spawner and had to go light them up. Once I started flooding and lighting up the other caves, I had slimes spawning around me while adding other floors to my slime farm.
To make the glitched blocks you need 1 bucket of water, 3 sticky pistons, red stone, red stone torches, oak wood and some cobble.
Add me if you want. If were on at the same time then you can visit my farm and i'll show you all the caves I had to light up. I am normally on fri-sun from 10pm-6am MnT time
I've added vines to my slime farm to slow the slimes fall so they don't die when falling to my bottom layer.
I put them on the outer peremiter of the second floor and along the wall that surrounds the farm.
I thought i read somewhere that slimes dont take falling damage, so i never gave it thought. But today I watched a tiny slime fall to its death. So now they dont die or get hurt when falling down to my main floor which means more slimeballs!
Great idea, my farm has a glass panel on the front and doors with stairs leading to them. Just need to walk to them, funny watching them bounce around on the next level as slime drips through. Getting a capture card this week so I will try and upload a video of it.

Well, by farm, I haven't turned it into one yet, because I can't get any to spawn. Almost a week later and no slimes have spawned. I dug back a little more, 10 layers back then what it was (it was 24 layers). Please, any help at all? The only slimes that spawn are baby ones, and they have only spawned on full moons, which makes sense, but only one small one per full moon. Any help? I don't know what I did wrong.
For large ones to spawn the height of the roof must be more than 3 block's. You say you are getting some slimes so you must be in the right area. Not sure if that helps at all.
