I own an ancient Dell laptop that has the computing power of an apple. The fruit. Minecraft ps3 basically took my life over for the past two months and I've yet to defeat the strongholds or learn anything more complicated about redstone than pressure plates. It's a game changer in the fact that I now only play this game, and I've barely scratched the surface.
It's great to put it in few words. My laptop can run the game around 25fps about max on moderately low settings, and it's alright but it's nice to enjoy it on my console in the meantime while I look into building a new PC. It's also a great time with my friends when we all get together. It's worth the $20 they're asking. Yeah the world size limitation is a bit annoying but it's also understandable. I'd suggest it to anyone really.

Not very much, Having to use a sign system to communicate with people helping me in builds or survival because voice chat is broken is annoying as all hell.

I have a ps3. Haven't turned it on in 2 years. Thought, ok, I'll give it a shot since it's in the living room hooked up to my 60" TV.
Took over an hour to install the updates.
Went online and set up my PSN account.
Had to do a internet test 3 times before it said it was able to hook to PSN (the other tests passed). (My ps3 is only a foot away from the wifi.)
Tried 3 times before I could get into the PS Store, after trying twice to download the extra Store software.
Finally got to the Store, and on the 4th attempt was finally able to download the MC trial... then it had to update.
Started MC, crashed.
Started MC, crashed.
Started MC, finally worked (the trial is only the first part of the tutorial). During the trial it asked me 4 times to buy the full version.
The controller sucks. The sticks are 'weird' acting with strange ratios for movement. Glad I only got the trial.
I suppose if you're used to it, and you don't have a 360 to compare it to, you think it's great.
I was not impressed and my ps3 will go back to being a door stop. My 360 has always just "worked"- like it's suppose to.
My scores:
360: 10/10. MC on 360: 10/10
ps3: 3/10. MC on ps3: 5/10
It may be a little unfair to ask this question now as 1.04 came with a slew of really frustrating bugs. Hopefully 1.05 hits this week to help clear that up.
That being said...
We got my son an Xbox 360 for Christmas with Minecraft. I played splitscreen with him for a about half an hour and have been hooked ever since. I did, however, feel bad about playing his Xbox all the time so I purchased the PS3 version because the PS3 is mine. I can say that the gameplay overall was much smoother on the 360. Most of the really annoying behavior happens on splitscreen, which we haven't done now since 1.04 came out, will try again when 1.05 installs, but the hangs evertime someone access their inventory or the crafting table or opens a chest, very annoying.
I have considered going to the PC version, by that takes the "relax in the living room, big screen" atmosphere away that I enjoy. Rather, I think I will wait until they get up and running on XB1 or PS4 and make a decision then.
Until then, I'll keep mining on the PS3 and hope for the best!

Its a great game but 4J mojang they dont care about it. They dont test the updates before release obviously or they would have noticed all the stuff the update broke. Sad that they do this then wait 6 months to update it to fix the last update. Get your stuff together. Learn how to do your job right or dont do it at all
i would not recommend spending money on this. i stopped playing because the spawn system sucked and now i come back and it's even worse, i can't find chickens or wolves. before it was just slimes missing, now do we have a find chicken spawn/seed tool? i love to google and break my immersion by finding stuff on some 3rd party software since just playing the game and finding necessary mobs isn't possible. this PS3 version is utter trash.

The chickens/wolves thing is a known bug with 1.04 and should be corrected in 1.05 when it makes it through verification.
I think me and lint's desktops actually share the same apple, I can't run the PC version either- therefore I'm grateful that there is a PS3 version. In spite of some of the trouble (that will eventually be fixed) I feel you still get an fully enjoyable MC experience. I'm interested in seeing how far they can go on this platform.
I have played on PC and on ps3. PC is superior in several ways, but ps3 is still fun as well. I am not taking bugs into account in my evaluation. I was one of those who was frustrated by how long it was taking for TU14. So I can't complain if it was rushed. They have gotten the patch out quickly (into the hands of Sony).

yea i'm not seeing ocelots either.. i suppose i will put the game down for another 6 months while waiting for the fix, trading with villagers is cool but i would rather the spawns work. the slimes never spawning already chased me off (yes i knew you could google and find the spawns with the seed number but that felt lame to me), i was hoping the spawns would get better each patch, not worse.
It's great. There is a few cons but not that many. Here they are:
1. A few bugs
2.Not as many biomes as the PC/Mac
3.When playing multiplayer there is no in game chat system
That's all, I would highly recommend this game
It's got more than a few bugs and some performance issues. But it is still fun and playable.
My computer specs:
