Use the splash weakness potion on a golden apple on zombie villager then what you want to do is put 2 villagers an build a big building put the 2 villagers in it an then fill it with a lot of doors love mode starts almost instantly an more villagers will start spawning in be sure to block the doors to enter this building,
So you can watch from above what they are spawning in an if you don't want certain villagers kill em off but beware that their guard will come after you an force you to leave the city the more doors in an around the out side of building will get you villagers plus you my have to add more guards to protect them. the most villagers I ever got was 48.
Build a rail line so you can transfer villagers to other area's of the map an build a city there for them. villagers will enter rail cart if it's close to them they will stand up in it an not be able to get out of it till you break the cart.
definitely spawned iron golems on ps3 on survival easy. Town was almost wrecked. down to 2 villagers. Trapped them in one of their houses. then I built a 12x12 room out of cobblestone right next to house villagers were trapped in. On top of the roof I put a hundred doors. then a wall around the doors with a roof on that. i then built a tunnel to the house with villagers so they could only go back and forth. then I left the room and blocked it in. I left for a couple days game time and came back to about 15 villagers. 1 iron golem. A couple days later...the place is way overpopulated. had to set them free and build them more infrastructure.

i have built villages and populated with villagers from a nearby village or ones that survived from their original village. Had 3 golems naturally spawn. Cannot confirm or deny curing on console though.
Yes - if a village population is 10 or more a golum can spawn. I've had several appear In my games.
you need roughly 3 houses with doors for every 1 villager.....so if you want to increase the population you need to build more dwellings. Just make sure the outside of the door is unobstructed to direct daylight from above.
Keep your villagers safe.....block up any ravines, remove cactus nearby, brick up holes...ect.
You can create new villagers by turning a zombie villager. Make 1 golden apple (1 Apple and 9 gold nuggets) and create a splash potion of weakness. At night go hunting and when you find one lure them into a small makeshift room with a door. You'll probably take a few hits but once the zombie is in quickly get outside and close the door. Break a hole in the side of the wall and throw in that splash potion. Simply equip the golden apple and while your cursor is on the zombie press L2. You'll hear a "sizzling" sound and if you did it right the zombie with shake and red swirls will float around it. In roughly 4 minutes it will change into a regular villager of random profession. Just remember you'll need to do this at least twice in order to breed the newly created villagers....and you'll need to have enough rooms with doors for the population to grow. In addition you may have to trade with them once to get the mating happening. Oh and don't look at them when they're in "love mode"......it doesn't affect them mating but it's a little icky 😳
I can absolutly confirm that all this is possible on the PS3 version!

Not sure this will help there just isn't an option other than for me to eat the apple.
Good news is I have 1 villager which if I can keep alive will help with trading. Can't seem to get any more.
I assure you it does work. Hit the zombie with a splash potion of weakness then press L2 (or is it R2?) when your holding the golden apple and you've got your cursor on the zombie. The zombie will shake and "sizzle" and within about 4 minutes it turns into a regular villager of no specific profession. Trap the zombie villager in a makeshift room with a door then exit, close the door, break a hole in the walk...hit it with the splash potion then apple. You'll take a couple of hits but I've done it a stack of times. You'll need to do this twice to get a pair to breed.
