I made a dirt house than a zombie came i got scared after that, I saw a creeper with a sad face i tried to help it but booms than i forgot to put torches mobs keeps spamming in my house..
I thought that the map reset every time you died. I nearly left minecraft entirely after dying a few times. It was to my amazement when i saw a video where someone died and his/her world was still there!
It took me a while to break that first block, i was so used to classic. I was dead scared of all the mobs, wouldnt go out at night and everything! Thought building a tower that touched the clouds was awesome too.
I actually posted this on 4chan once, and also on scribd, but I kinda lost the files... but, here it is:
An Addictive Obsession
In then out, I breathed. Sweat dripped from what felt like every pour of my body, and what felt like gale force winds, blew through my window into my bedroom. It was almost as though I were in hell- even though the door was right in front of me, I couldn’t possibly muster the will get out. Trapped, I was, in a prison of non-Euclidean madness.
It was calm Saturday afternoon in Southern California. A gentle breeze flew by, that I could feel even in a small cooped up room. Relaxing though it was, I was more or less bored out of my mind. My friends, for a while now, have been trying to persuade me to play a game called “Minecraft”, to which little information was given. Normally, it would be a bad idea just to get something without knowing what it has to offer, but in the situation that I was facing, I’m sure it would be okay. I put away twenty dollars, and bought the game.
I logged in, and saw a simple splash screen. The menu looked promising, though Spartan as it may be, and with no other options but the actual options button, I pressed play. The game was nice, and looked better than I expected. The trees and everything looked so amazing- or at least as far as a block based game with graphics from the early nineties could go. I wasn’t a hundred percent sure what I was supposed to do, however. After a while, I figured out I could punch trees to get wood, and of course other blocks to get other materials to use and rearrange them into great works ; I guess that’s the reason for the craft part… but what about the mine part?
I wandered the plains for a fairly short time before the game gradually got darker. “What is this?” I wondered. Suddenly, I saw a 16-bit moon rise off a pixelated horizon. Something in my gut told me that what was about to happen wouldn’t be a good thing, and that thing was about to get real. Quickly, I built a small wall around me, safeguarding my person. There was a small opening in the hole though, just a missing block. It was my window, so I could see all that happened while I was holed in my makeshift home.
All was well. I started to get bored again, but all too soon. A green armless quadruped waited patiently outside my window- the notorious creeper. It had a frown on what would be its face, and pitch black “eyes”. Boom! The creeper gave little warning before blowing itself up, taking my wall with it. My heart rate increased, and all around me, were pixelated monstrosities and trees. I couldn’t jump very high, so the only other option would be down. I picked up everything destroyed by the creeper, and walked away to literally dig a hole to hide in.
I waited there for hours. “Was it safe to go out yet?” I questioned. I kept waiting, of course. This was a reflection of my own insecurity. I panicked, and panted heavily like a dog. There was only one block on top of me- just one block away from my escape, and yet, it felt like I was trapped. I was suffocated in walls of dirt which seemed to get closer by the second.
I was in a small hole with nowhere to go. There was nothing to light the dark, and nothing to make my prison feel any less torturing. I could feel a sweat drop onto the hard ground. It made a single hard dropping noise as it hit the dirt. The, a, s, d, and w keys must feel tired, the mouse even more so. The space bar of my keyboard seemed much smaller than it usually is- strange.
It felt like days. I finally removed the block above my head- daylight. As I crawled out of my hole, I let go a great sigh of relief. The horrible night was finally over. My troubles were no longer present, but I spoke too soon. Right before I could get back to punching trees, the a creeper stood in front of me. It talked to me. It parlayed with me. “That’s a very nice everything you’ve got there” he said “It’d be a shame if something were to happen to it.”
In a split second, my life bar was depleted. The GAME OVER screen appeared, with two options: Restart, and Quit to title. Above it, was my score, &oe… it must be my high score. The game wasn’t too bad though. Now that I think about it, it is rather addicting. Besides, I didn’t spend twenty dollars for nothing. The moral of the story is, life is a game, and you have to play it. Isn’t that a nice concept?
lol when i was a noob i couldn't find coal on the first night so i was just like i don't need it in my house i can just make a moonlight...... you probably know what happens next.
Hmm... after seeing everybody else's reply, it seems mines is a bit too long. Well, to sum it all up:
1. Friends heckle me to play Minecraft
2. Start playing pirated game beta 1.1
3. Start off on island assuming goal is to get to other islands
4. Build 1x69,000 bridge made of sand straight to adjacent island
5. Learn to swim :sleep.gif:
6. Night fall comes
7. Build tine 2x2 dirt house
8. Creeper explodes
9. Digs under ground
10. Stays there forever not doing ****
11. Finally come out to be killed by creeper :sleep.gif:
First time I played the game was when my brothers friend showed it to him, and when we were trying to play we kept clicking the mouse button instead of holding it down. We were about to quit until we found out we were supposed to hold it down.
I did that too. I was wondering why it took so long to break a piece of wood... Tried to bypass making a wood pick "Oh I'll only use it to get cobblestone, might as well just break the stone with my hand." I didn't know beds reset your spawnpoint, so I made a house sort of underground by spawn point after having just wandered wayyyy far off and died and lost my old house. Once I had a house with a bed I was surprised I'd spawn underground in my house instead of on top. Also I didn't know I'd do better finding things in caves so I just started mining my own hole in a wall of stone.
It may make me look bad, but hey at least I didn't hug a creeper.
I started way way back in Alpha 1.2_01 or something. I twas Alpha 1.2 for sure... Anyway.
I remember building a house, but I was afraid to use torches for I feared it would burn my place down. I learned it was fine from the friend who got me into MC originally. I came home after crafting my first wooden pickaxe - Which broke unexpectedly and I was sad. Like, legitimately sad. I ASSUMED tools lasted forever once made. I get back to my place with a creeper inside. Slammed the door shut and somehow managed to punch it to death.
Sad as it is - I still have that world and refuse to get rid of the fort+town it became later.
I read a starting tutorial and all went well. Until it reached night. I didn't know what "the many dangers" would be. I saw a creeper. It was frowning. Due to my weird tendency to survive creeper explosions, I thought the lines were much more experience.
... I thought explosions were experience points.

I started in Beta 1.7.3, played classic and asked my brother, he bought the game for him and a gift code for me, i play like i used in 1.7.3, i dont enchant stuff, i think its a waste of diamonds and obisidian, and i knew some mobs where hostile, and my first house was a hole i dug up on the rocky wall of a hill, deleted that world after drowning in lava with diamonds, and i though golden swords where the best in the game...

Funny thing is, it only went down like 20 blocks.
2) tried to mine obsidian with iron
3) mined diamond without blocking the lava beside it.

So when night fell I got killed by a spider.
