This is my fourth castle, which I built on the "World in the Air" seed. They get a little bit more elaborate each time, as I expand on things that I liked in the previous design.
For instance, my previous castle didn't have docks or a courtyard in front:
Suggestions:
1. Do your floor plan on graph paper or Excel before you start building.
2. Make your floors two layers thick, so you can put down flooring and it won't show through to the room below.
3. Pick the most scenic spot you can find. You don't want to look out on blandness.
4. For your parapets, where you have that notched, toothy thing going on, in the low spots, instead of solid blocks, use stone stairs facing outward. It will enhance your downward visibility quite a bit.

Any chance of getting a schematic/copy of this castle i love it and I'd really want to put it in my world I'll indicate in my world is was made b you and all just love it.
I used to have this amazing castle that was based on cobblestone (Outer walls, towers and pretty much everything), wood (floors and some minor areas like bedrooms) and sandstone (bridge for moat).
First floor: Basic area (pretty clear, used for a bit of storage, furnaces and that, easy to defend from mobs, farm connected
Second floor: Completely for looks. Seriously, it had a waterfall and stuff. Well- not too useless, it had a door that connected to my entrance to my flying city.
Third floor: Bedrooms and balcony.
Fourth floor: Entrance to HUGE tower (for a good view) and some enchanting stuff.
Sadly i couldnt take a screenshot because that map was deleted. I'll go fish inside my screenshots folder too see if i took any.

can u make a video of this ir at least a map upload so i can have it and make it myself?
I think I'm going to go for a Japanese-style castle. Anyone remember the multiplayer map on Call of Duty WAW? Something like that I think. When I make some progress I'll post.
Here you go, and don't commit... anything... after you watch it.
Is that your channel?
I've subscribed either way!
Edit: Woohoo, I'm no longer a Tree Puncher
