What is the maximum XP level you can reach, or is it unlimited?
The max level is 129 for some odd reason. I killed the ender dragon and it made me level 129 and would not let me pick up any other EXP orbs. :tongue.gif:
I've seen higher than 129 before. Heck, when it switched from the version that introduced the orbs to the version where they actually meant something, I had something like 500.

That's an odd number to choose... XD But thanks :biggrin.gif:

Oh, well I wanted to make sure you could get over at least 100. Thanks :smile.gif:

No it isn't. I've seen plenty of people with over a thousand.

It's probably not as odd as you think. A 7-bit number can go from 0 to 128. There is most likely not a level 0. If you haven't leveled up at all, you simply don't have a level. As soon as the bar fills, you start at level 1. A 7-bit number goes from 0 to 128, so there are 129 possibilities (128 + 1, because 0 is also a possibility).
This is what I assume, because it sounds logical. I'd have to take a look at the source code to see whether this is true, or Notch is just being weird.
I got this hack/mod thing or whatever you want to call it that lets you edit your level its really easy to use its called nbtedit yes it does work for mp its not a virus after your done installing it link: http://www.mediafire.com/?znjnnz4mw2n just launch it open the files go into level.dat go to xp click on xp enter in a number be sure to press enter and save and your done. For multiplayer do the same thing but go into your world and into players then just open that file with nbtedit
Theoretically, it could be infinite, but as said above it's limited to the 32 bit integer used for it, so 2^31 is the max levels you can have. Kind of like how the map is theoretically infinite, but after X/Z of 2^31 it won't generate anymore, and at X/Z of 10^308 the integer that stores the player position overflows.

Users lack the mental capacity to have intelligent discussion, and mods lack the mental capacity to make intellegent decisions... I give up trying to share my intelligence with the world.

Yeah, if you're going to link the the utility, link directly to the developer's page for it. Otherwise, no telling what people are downloading.
BTW, I don't care what file it actually is, I treat all direct links like this as viruses and ignore them, as EVERYONE should.

If you think the title and OP tells you everything you want to know about a thread, don't reply. If you want to actually read the thread and post an intelligent reply, you're welcome to it.
On Topic: The highest I've reached is 164, but that was in the 1.9 pre-releases. I don't know if there even is a limit, or what it would be. I would guess somewhere between 120 and 200 without mods. In all likelihood, it's probably infinite. Which would make my above joke a factual statement.

And I was sad.

well the fact that you don't level up in creative mode, then i totally believe you :tongue.gif:
48? Nononono. I beat the enderdragon and got as much XP as you normally would. Got to lvl 120 in a matter of seconds.
Huh. When I was on multiplayer the max. I got from the dragon was 48.
