I'm making a giant tree to live in. To finish the trunk I need 1560 spruce logs (fun huh?) I got a stack of saplings, several stacks of bones, and an extreme hills biome nearby. What's the fastest way to harvest this many?
Collect wood in snow biome.
That is bit more than 24 stacks, less than full inventory.
Make effiency 4-5 diamond axe (has 1561 durability) and go to snow biome.
If you only break wood you will have axe with 1 durability.
Why do people allways suggest cheating or mods to get large amounts of building blocks?
It's funny all the people saying he should build the semi-auto tree farm.. It will take far longer to build that and use a lot of resources when all he has to do is plant a ton of saplings, bonemeal them and go to town with a Eff4/5 diamond axe. Rinse and repeat.. Do it near your other farms so you can go off and harvest them once and awhile to break up the boredom.
I spam saplings in my tree farm / forrest. Once you have enough spalings they will start growing faster than you can chop them. You will also get a good supply of saplings to keep expanding the forrest, or just replant it once it is big enough.
Build yourself a farm, nothing redstone like or anything, just a place to put down trees, but a height limit so the oaks won't grow to the giants trees (i think 5 block up) and just make a row of oak.
If you want wood not for building sake, grow jungle trees
