Recently On my creative world I noticed a bunch of mobs spawned in an dark room... so I tried to make something like that on my survival world to get xp quicker. Once I obtained the resources I tried building a traditional grinder... So far I've been unsuccessful and wasted a lot of wood and space... Please tell me the Easiest and Cheapest way to make a grinder... Thank You

If you can find a zombie or skeleton dungeon (the former is safer, but the latter is less noisy), you can use a water elevator to extract them from the dungeon, lift them up into the air, then drop them just far enough so they don't die, at which point you can just punch them to death with your bare fists (or throw a splash potion of healing) and collect the XP.
Take a look at the Monster Spawner Trap tutorial page on the wiki for more details. I've got two of them in my current world, using the design Dataless822 used in his YouTube Let's Play series (episodes 19 and 20) - conveniently, they're practically right next to each other, so I can stand in between them and AFK for 15 minutes to get enough XP for two Lvl 30 enchants in a row.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
You can build a platform in the sky that is covered, all sides, and a hole in it, then have water to push the mobs that spawn in there int the hole, causing them to fall and die.
I don't know if they made the spawn mechanics different now so that it's harder to create an XP grinder. You can make one that allows you to 1 hit enemies, but idk about a fully-auto one. =/
To make an XP Grinder it is recomended that you have a dungeon spawner to give you the mobs. However, if this is without a spawner light up everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. Prevent all mobs from spawning anywhere except that spawner.
Here's what I learned from many failed attempts at making a sufficient mob grinder;
1) It needs to be HUGE I'm talking multi-layered with water channels feeding into the center
2) The ground above and any caves in the vicinity need to be lit up. (This encourages mobs to spawn inside the grinder)
3) When the mobs are on their way to the grinder, add a long drop to lower their health. (This makes it so they die faster in the lava portion of the grinder ((If that's what you're using)) and the drops don't get burned)
I don't think you can make a fully automatic XP farm, but the easiest way (and the way with less resources) is to find a dungeon and then search on youtube on how to make one, It's pretty simple!
Actually, it is.
You just need a beacon to provide regeneration, wolves to attack for you and a steady stream of weakened mobs.

1) It doesn't have to be very big if your spawner has the only spawnable blocks available in the area.
2) You can avoid this royal PITA if you build your mob spawner 128 blocks above the surface. Some folks say 140, but 128 is enough in my experience since you usually have some lighting down there anyway.
3)While the advise about dropping is sound, he's looking for XP so a lava blade won't help him at all.
Good tutorial! Very basic and that's what I like about it. I always get too caught up in complex designs that end up forcing me to put off mob farms till much later in the game. On my latest world, I've started my enderman grinder but I still don't have a mob spawner!
Well first if you are trying to get mobs to spawn in a dark room you need to make sure ALL of the nearby caves are lit up.
**Did the mobs spawn in creative since you were in super flat**
Since there are no caves in superflat they go for the darkest area.

This is only true if you are within spawning distance of any caves as discussed above. Building the hostile mob farm 128-140 blocks above the ground level makes this possible.

Here is some reading/watching material for you:
Malacodor's Mob Dropper
Monkeyfarm's Mobs On Demand
Spend a bit of time in creative testing things out and you can easily come up with a personal design that will suit your survival world.
Good luck!
