One other thing great thing about a water bucket is that water knocks out spiderwebs immediately. This has helped me a lot dealing with cave spider spawners.
Great article! I allways spend so much time diggy digging in mc it's my favorate thing to do. Ill keep this all in mind as i build my dwarven citadel and run my deep roads to all my thaigs. If anyone remember's back to X's adventures in minecraft lets play, his mining shaft one for the operation diamond might be good for massive systems that stretch deep but wont go to the surface. I feel it gives me organised aproach top the system by level and quick surface acces for needs I cant get underground.
Just went through it and updated some things. Some things were shortened and others were lengthened, and maybe a new thing or two. No drastic changes. I'm thinking of ditching my current navigation system in favor of just putting torches on the right or something, since my old system was originally based on cave systems that could be fully explored.
And the mini-base was originally devised because you might have to wander for a few hundred blocks to find a good cave system. Now with essentially unlimited caves directly under your base, it isn't as important. I've been thinking of just removing that section.

Seeing how Minecraft 1.3 brings a lot of changes to caving and stuff.
Quote my post to bring me back to the topic, in case you answered/talked to me, thank you.
Lure the creeper to you.
Let him bump into you. HISS....
Hit him as far as you can reach.
Run backwards very fast.
BOOM!!!
Minecraft [Alpha] 1.7.3 had blocks that you can use to build with.
Minecraft now has blocks that you can use to build with.
Nothing has changed in my opinion." That is all.
While it works, it destroys spawners that can be used to make a mob farms.
