Can someone point me to an article that explains this or give me some info on it? I've searched and searched. I can't find anything on 1.4.4 Vanilla: Villagers and Reputation
I thought there was supposed to be reputation I can't seem to get my villagers to change their prices no matter what I do around them. The only thing that happens is the golems become hostile of course if you attack villagers next to them.
There's a few mods out there that keep coming up in my searches but I can't find anything about reputation and Vanilla .. no mods plz thanks
On the wiki there is a page about NPC villages that should explain everything.
Indeed there is. Oddly enough, the wiki article calls it "popularity" instead of reputation, which is probably why your search wasn't turning anything up. If you don't want to check, here's a rough table:
Doing a villagers rightmost trade: +1
Attacking a villager: -1
Attacking a villager child: -3
Killing a villager: -2
Killing an iron golem: -5
This number is restricted to being between -30 and 10. If your popularity is below -15, iron golems will attack on sight. Yep, that's the only reason popularity matters.
