So, My enderman grinder takes about 1 minute to reach the mob cap, which is great and I'm not complaining. There are a total of 340 spawning spaces in the trap, and probably 30 or so blocks they can spawn on outside (I'll be working on this shortly) I'm wondering, would it be worth it to add 170 more spawning spaces to the trap? And would the difference in which the trap fills up be noticeable? I would like to increase the efficiency and I have the resources - but I don't want to do it if the the change is nearly un noticeable. Also, 170 spawning spaces is the max I can cram into the trap without going over y: 128.
I'd probably wait until 1.3 as gaining XP will be much faster and you may find it's perfect the way it is.. I've got 228 spawning pads in my SMP enderman ender.. Currently it can't keep up with how fast I can kill them off due to the 70 mob limit on the server... I've been thinking of adding more levels but have been putting it off due to 1.3 probably coming out within a month.
If you do upgarde, I believe the mob cap would be reached in sufficiently less than a minute, due to the extra spawning pads. But it doesm't matter because you must have the time to kill them, and it would take longer to kill them all then it might be worth.

Markscape I'm betting that could possibly get it down to about 45 seconds. You're getting down to the point where you will realize smaller and smaller gains. Theoretically if you made a trap where no spawning check would fail, it would fill up in about 4 seconds. If you do add them let us know what you find out, I'm interested to know the results.
You could go as much overkill as I did on mine and have 1120 spawn blocks, I reach mob cap in 30-40 seconds depending on the other players on the server.
I recommend NOT doing that in legit. That took WAY too many stone bricks to create and enclose it.
I'd suggest adding enough that it keeps a steady stream of mobs so any food breaks happen about the same time you'd run out of endermen to quickly kill.

Do you have a lovely bunch of coconuts? Do you have them all standing in a row? Are there big ones, small ones, some as big as your head?

That's exactly what I am thinking. I could just silk touch a stockpile of coal/diamond ores and get to level 100 no problem in 1.3. However, I'm probably going to be using a 1.2.5 enchanting mod for 1.3, if anyone does decide to make one. Or I might not just upgrade.

I'd actually have to create a whole new trap if I wanted to add more than 170 more spawning spaces. So I know I'm not doing that.

That's the thing, I'm usually waiting for enderman to drop onto the killing floor, and I get pretty impatient because theres not much I can do for a minute.

I will do some tests if I decide to upgrade it, and I think I will soon.
I built a DocM spawner on my friends SMP server, and it has 680 spawnable spaces, yet, no endermen are spawning at all. I'm not sure what i did wrong?
Wow, nice Necro'ing buddy. Also, you may want to ask on the actual vid or create a topic for it, not post on a random topic somewhat related.

I have no idea what to put here, nor do I have any idea what to make my profile pic. Ideas welcome, I suppose. Now satisfy my like *****ing hogging self and give me a little rep, please and thank you?
I've never understood why people are against necroing old threads, when many of the "tips" and "rules" in the forums are to use the search function, and post in currently existing threads.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
