me and my friend have spent the last couple of days building a small village which we live in. we have the basics including:
a house
a farm
a church
a dog kennel
a chicken coop
a cactus boundary
a village green
a nether portal
a bank
But now we have ran out of ideas and would love your suggestions on how to improve our village.
Build a warehouse, with a hole in some corner (well hidden) leading to your secret underground evil scientist-type base.
haha that's a good idea except this is meant to be a lovely quaint village :biggrin.gif: perhaps that could go in a different map :biggrin.gif: half a for you :biggrin.gif:
Pack up as much stuff as you can carry in your inventory, and head off in a different direction to found a new village. Keep going until you find somewhere that "speaks" to you. Then stop, and do it all over again. Repeat a few times, then link all of your villages up with a redstone minecart travel network, a normal world underground minecart/walking network, walking pathways between villages with well placed safe houses to keep travelers safe at night.
Perhaps try and stylize the new village in a different way. Maybe try and build mostly with sand/sandstone. Perhaps aim for a stone shelter village, or even a cave/subterranean setup. How about a city in the trees? Maybe something at the foot of a (manmade) volcano? Heck, island/floating/underwater villages shouldn't be counted out, as they're rather fun to create. Or maybe stylize each village based upon the more realistic approach of it being built around a specific reason to exist. A mining town, a lumberjack community, fishing village, hunting community, etc.
The nether could use a village, too, and it'd be really interesting if you made it sprawling enough to have the outskirts being the real-world travel network to your real world villages. Heck, the nether gives you a chance to make really good floating/multi-story towns without appearing strange. Lava lighting, free cooked pork. Best of all worlds when you tie it back into your normal world!

Fire And Ice
Some say the world will end in fire
Some say in ice
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire
But if it had to perish twice
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice

Oh my god YES! We will definetly do this! Currently our village is wood themed so other villages made of stone, in trees, underwater, in the nether etc would be awesome! Multiple for you!
I've got ideas, but it might bump your settlement up to a town from a "small village"
Theatre - maybe complete with a backstage, orchestra pit, box seats, a multi-level stage (like for Romeo and Juliet)...you could even do something like the Sydney Opera House, if you're feeling adventurous
Courthouse - complete w/ court rooms, offices, public bathrooms, maybe even a dome roof?
Hotel - with multiple types of rooms (2 queens, 1 king, honeymoon suite, etc), continental breakfast area, pool, hottub, etc
Central Park - maybe with a playground, pond, walking path....
Dock - has been mentioned by someone else, but an awesome idea. use soul sand to save your boats from destruction
If your village is near/on a big hill or mountain, you could also add a stream going through it, which would involve building bridges and doing some landscaping

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move. - Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

wow these are great ideas and I do agree that would probably bump the village up to a town hall so perhaps well shall collaborate with one of the previous ideas of creating multiple villages except make a few the side of towns :biggrin.gif: lots and lots of for you!
