This is a journal of my experiences on the 2b2t minecraft server. As of now, it is unedited and a bit weird, since I am having trouble copying in images of my gameplay instead of attaching pictures.
//Prologue\\
From what I have read online, the 2b2t server is a relic hailing from the month of December in the year 2010. This makes it one of the longest run servers in the history of minecraft. It's name, 2b2t stands for 2builders2tools. Already, the server seems interesting. It is a good opportunity to see the mark that minecraft players throughout the history of minecraft have left on the server, and how we have changed over time. It is also stunning to imagine all of the stories that every building, every base, every farm in the server has to offer. In addition to that, the server has NO RULES. All forms of griefing, stealing, and hacking are allowed. The server is completely vanilla, and there is no staff. On this server, it is my challenge to fight through the chaos, find beauty, and leave a mark of my own on the server.
Server IP: 2b2t.org
Day 1:
First Attempt
I load up minecraft and put in the ip, worried about what I will find when I join for the first time. I move the server to the top of my server list and look at the description. It says,"Once you join, you can't unjoin." I refresh the page and find that there are more descriptions, including,"Don't join, this is virused.", and "This ends you." These messages make me nervous as I hover my mouse over the server and prepare to join. I look at the player counter one last time before I join, 176 players out of 1000 slots. I take a deep breath, and join.
I join to find myself in Minecraft Heck (A nice job of dodging the Forum mods if I do say so myself). I am standing on a massive mountain of cobblestone under a roof of random materials and lava. Near me, I see a person running around collecting dirt. I decide not to attack them, since I am unarmed, and I don't want to make an enemy right after joining. I set off in a random direction to try to get out. I am running on floating platforms over ravines filled with water and lava to escape from spawn. My parkour skills falter, and I take a couple of falls. I pass a couple of fighting players and crawl out of the ravine with half a heart and not enough hunger points to regen. Limping away from spawn, I am attacked by another player and die for the first time on the 2b2t server
Until I manage to fix the weird problem with pictures, I will have to make a new post every 5 pictures. I find this preferable to having no pictures, as that would make for a boring journal.
Day 1 Continued:
Attempt 2
So, I sat there looking at the death screen, asking myself,"Why would he do that?" Then I remembered the reason, because he can. I decide to be more wary of other people during my next attempt to escape spawn. I hit the respawn button and head off in the same direction that I went before, North.
I tossed myself into the ravines with less carefulness than before and came out with more health and a piece of rotten flesh. I continue my journey away from spawn and find an obsidian road. As I walk down it, I see other players traveling the road too. There is lag, the chat is toxic, and death messages are appearing left and right.
So far, I have seen nothing of worth. I continue down the road until I see a portal that is partially blocked up. Taking it to the nether could be my ticket out of spawn. It could also be a trap though. I decide to risk it and jump into the portal.
It was a trap. The exit was blocked off, and there was another player that quickly punched me to death before I could go back through the portal. I will make sure to keep that in mind for attempt #3.

I hit the respawn button and find to my joy that I spawned outside of the main spawn area underneath the obsidian highway that leads North. As I walk down it, I see familiar landmarks and realize that this is the same highway I was on before. This time, I decide to walk around the portal and continue on the pathway.
It takes me through an underground tunnel and spits me out in front of an ocean partially covered in ice. I gather some dirt to prepare myself for the long journey ahead of me to get out of the grief ring that exists around spawn.

Hey, great first few entries! This server is so intriguing, I really should try to get on it at some point. It's such a pleasure to just imagine the history of a place like this, how it all began, who .lived there, and for nearly six years. It's just amazing, I'd love to have been there to see it all unfold over the years.
You should. Maybe we'll see each other some time. 😀 Just be careful about the The players. They hate new players because a you tuber called the camping rusher made a video about the server, and a bunch of people joined. The average player count went from 20 to almost 200, and noobs are dying left and right. The vets say that his fanboys are here to take over the server, and the chat and server are in turmoil as the server deals with so much more traffic than it is used to.

After collecting some dirt for the journey, I continue down the highway over the ocean. Eventually, the path turns from obsidian to cobblestone. I find a portal by the side of the road that seems open and welcoming. I decide to enter.
On the other side of the portal, I find myself on a nether highway. I head down the highway looking for a portal, and on the way, I find some gear lying on the ground. Apparently, a player had fallen from a large platform that existed above the road. I felt bad for the player but picked up the stuff and run before they can come back.
As I reach the end of the nether highway, I see that there is something wrong. The nether portal is broken. I curse the players who did this because my hunger bar is quickly dropping. I see a path dug out of the netherrack behind the portal. I follow that a long way, passing broken portals until I find one that works. On it is a sign that says,"This is where you go to give up." I am suspicious, but I decide to go in anyway since I am about to starve.
On the other side of a portal is a sight I am happy to see. I see hills and grass and trees, but no food in sight. I wander in a random direction from the portal, and I find a canal nearby. I cross it and wander around looking for food until I almost starve to death. I put my items in a hidden chest in a location I will remember and decide to kill myself rather than starve to death.
Now my mission is to get there faster to get my items back and have time to acquire food

Oh hey, I've heard of this. I actually heard of it from some popular YouTuber who I don't even watch, I just happened to click the video. Anyway, apparently this server is super toxic to new players because tons of little kids joined from this YouTube series. Their subreddit includes discussions about their plan to kill all of the <not even going to say what the call the new players on this forum> on sight until they are proven to be older and more mature as some kind of measure. They're insane. Of course, you probably know that by now, I haven't read this yet.

Sure, why not? Anyway, I haven't posted on here in a while because the server currently has a temporary map during the server's transition period from 1.9 to 1.10. The old map will be back soon, and that is when I will return to making entries.

It has been a long while since i have posted on this thread. I will now explain why.
The war between the oldfags (originals) and the newfags (newbs) has escalated. Newfags have poured into the server and are being destroyed by the old fags. The problem is, there are so many newfags that the server has overflowed, and a prioritized queue system has been put into place. my position in the queue atm is 683, and I have been trying to join the server all day.
In order to become more organized, the oldfags created a discord chat that everybody is welcome to join to help them out. I myself plan to help the oldfags drive the newfags off the server. I hate waiting in line. Here is a link for the 2b2t oldfag discord as well as the link to the 2b2t subreddit.
As I am writing this, I am bouncing between spot 2 and 3 on the queue. I have been waiting all day to get onto 2b2t, but it will surely be worth it. I have some pictures I took on the server yesterday that I will post. Unfortunately, I have still not fixed the problem with the pictures on my computer, so I will be limited to 5 pictures a post.

I checked out the queue for 2b2t, and I saw that it was a lot shorter than it used to be. No longer was the queue a mass of 1500 players who have been waiting for 8 hours to join. The queue was now reduced to a more bearable 350-450 group of the more determined players. I have a feeling that the start of the new school year might partially explain what has happened to the queue. 12 year olds Rusher Fans have homework and bedtimes to worry about, so they don't have the time to wait all day long in the queue. Now that the queue has gotten short enough for me to resume playing, I have decided to continue the journal.
I spawned in a favorable spot not shrouded in death and destruction and headed off towards positive Z in search of food. As luck would have it, I came across a road lined with melons. I picked up some melons and followed the road. At the end of the melon rainbow, I found a pot of gold! A player's loot was sitting in the ocean just waiting for me to pick it up, so I did and scored some good loot for a starting player. It probably wouldn't do me much good against an experienced player though, as they use enchants on their armor.
After picking up the gear, I headed down the rest of the path and crossed several oceans to get to my first object of interest. Some players built words into the landscape. There was a sign that said,"Base ---->" but I decided to ignore it as it was likely either a trap or already griefed. I continued on my way and came across a river that was frozen over. I decided to build a waystone out of cobblestone for people to put signs on to mark their passage. I also named the river Koffman's river for no reason other than it seemed like a nice name.

As I went on my way, I passed through a couple villages. Both of them had been griefed, but the second had a mob grinder that seemed in good condition. Unfortunately, I don't think it was far enough out for mobs to spawn in it. At the second village I also found a nether portal that I promptly hopped in because traveling through the nether would save me lots of time to get away from spawn and into territory where I could find some sheep.
I stepped into the nether portal, but as I peered into the mysteriousness of the nether, I had second thoughts. There was a chance I would get lost or the nether portal would be broken, and I would have to backtrack or die; so I turned around and went back through the portal.
To my surprise, I was no longer in the village I had just left. I was now standing in front of a tiny melon farm made by someone at the very beginning of the month. All of the melon stalks had been taken by someone else, so I decided to be nice and plant some of the melon seeds I got from the dead person on the farm and leave a sign.
This concludes today's entry. I will always post a day behind, so it will be harder to find me.

I joined the queue for 2b2t to find a pleasant surprise. While I was in the queue, the server restarted, and when the 5-zig mod I have installed kicked in and auto-rejoined me, I had jumped ahead to spot 28. This definitely saved a bunch of time and let me play for longer.
So, I was soon logged onto the server right where I left off in front of the tiny farm. I took one last look at it before walking off into the distance on a journey to find enough wool to make a bed. I was overjoyed at z 14500 when I found my very first pig. This was a good sign because it meant I was probably going to see some sheep soon. I left a sign commemorating my first pig sighting and went on my way.
During my walk, a heavy rain set in, but luckily I found a beautiful place to take shelter. I loved the design, and I walked through all the rooms. There was a tree growing in the center that really made it exceptional for me. I was surprised that this building was still mostly intact. All the other buildings I had seen had been griefed in one way or another. I only found one chest with nothing much in it, but seeing this gave me satisfaction enough. Inside one of the rooms, I found a lone poppy sitting in the middle of the room. I decided to take this poppy on my journey, as a witness to all I would see.

Upon reaching 20000, I was overjoyed. I had traveled so far in such little time. I decided to make another waystone for people to put signs on. Less than a thousand blocks away from my waystone, I found something I thought was very interesting. There was a house standing on stilts in the distance. I knew there would probably be something else over there that was unrendered, so I approached it, and to my surprise, I found a canal similar to the one I had visited so long ago and left my buried treasure. It even had a working nether portal next to it. This sight reminded me that I had traveled so much farther than on my first journey through 2b2t. My memories of past days left me completely though when I saw what was unrendered behind the house.
There stood before me stretched over the top of the canal was a massive tower reaching to world height. I stood in awe for a few moments, and then decided that I had to I HAD TO climb it. I walked down to the base of the tower and began to climb round and round up the stairs. Even though the tower had been greifed, it was still easily climbable, and I swiftly made my way to the top. Once there, I saw a room of signs left by other people who had journeyed to this same place. I decided to add my own sign to the lot and take a picture. After taking a look from the top of the tower, I jumped into the nether portal in the sign room.

After hopping in the portal, I once again had second thoughts. The nether is a dangerous place, and if I died, I would lose everything and be returned to spawn. I decided that it was too risky to travel through the nether until I had a bed down in a secure location. I went back into the portal and was surprised, for the second time, to be in a completely different place. I had come out of the nether in a farm. I was happy, as this was an opportunity to get some more food, and I also didn't have to walk all the way back down the tower.
Soon after leaving the farm, I saw something that made me cry out in victory. I had found sheep! I immediately set up and made some shears. I sheared the sheep and made my first bed. Then, I left some stuff I didn't need in the chest along with a sign to commemorate this moment. My new objective was to find somewhere safe to put my bed and some of my items. My inventory was on the brink of being full.
I eventually found a secret place to stash my stuff, but I almost died when some falling gravel knocked me into a pool of lava. I hopped out and sat there, munching on melon and eyeing my health bar, waiting for the end of my journey. When I was about to die, I closed my eyes, expecting to open them to a respawn screen, but when I wrenched them open, I saw my character standing just where he was a moment ago, with half a heart of health left. I sighed in relief, took a few moments to heal up, and continued.
I had been walking for a while, and I started worrying about my food supply running out, so I stopped and made a tiny farm to restock my food supply. While m melons and wheat grew, I walked around and chopped some logs. Then, I had the idea to build a small utility shack for anybody that passed by and used the farm. I built it out of wood, which was probably not the best choice of material, but I didn't really care. The shack looked nice in my texture pack, and that was all that really mattered to me. I dropped some stuff I didn't need in a chest and left a couple of furnaces and workbenches in the shack, and then I trekked onward.

I am typing this message to notify you guys that there will not always be a journal entry every day. Sometimes, I can't get through the queue. Also, I have picked up an EVE trial account, and I am trying to grind up enough ISK to get a PLEX while I slowly wade through the queue. I am in position 20 right now, so if things go smoothly, there will be another entry tomorrow. If things don't go smoothly however, there will be no entry tomorrow either.
Have a nice day!

Anarchy servers like this one are very annoying, due to the fact that the only way to become better is to hack...ughhh
still, you're doing great,I wish you good luck on surviving
Thanks! I actually thought of downloading the impact hacked client, but after traveling across adfly twice, I triggered a zeus virus popup scam website or something, which scared me off and made me run a full scan with my native antivirus program.

Day 1 Continued
I did a lot yesterday, so I will have a bunch of pictures. I am pretty happy about what I accomplished and what I saw.

Day 2
I joined the queue for 2b2t to find a pleasant surprise.
Day 2 part 2
Day 2 part 3
Day 2 end
