Title says it all...animals will get stuck on fence corners, and this is bad news because once they are stuck, for some weird reason they can no longer breed, so yep, hello less productivity. Anyone else encountered this bug and found any neat solutions to it?
Yes this happens and I hadn't actively tried to find a solution. I think I've seen one suggested solution was to just use two regular blocks in the corner instead of a fence.
Happens in console as well, though in my case the animals breed fine. Mostly happens to chickens, in my experience (smaller hit box?). I typically breed 1 free chicken with 1 corner chicken, then kill the corner chickens. Invariably there are 4 new corner chickens when I come back a day later.
I also had two villagers get stuck in fence corners. They wouldn't move at night or if I pushed them, but if I broke the corner they would run to a nearby house. They kept coming back and getting stuck until a creeper surprised me (and them!) and vaporized them along with the fence and a small part of the iron golem wading pool that the fence was protecting.
Ended up trading 2 stuck farmers for a blacksmith and a priest, so it was a net positive. Got rid of the fence corner, though.
I'm going to try the 2-block-corner idea; I guess the fence-block interface doesn't count as a "corner" for this glitch. I've also seen people just say to dig a 2-deep pit since animals won't get stuck in a normal block corner.
I'm on the pc version and I find that my animals never go into love mode ever once they are stuck or respond to food at all - only solution is to kill them, and yes, it most commonly happens with chickens, but is a problem with all passive mobs.

build your pen in such a way as to include an 8 block waterflow that extends into the pen area by 2 blocks (in other words, place the water sources 5 blocks outside of your fence). This will ensure two things: any mob that decides to walk over to the walls of your pen will always be pushed back by the current and with only the last couple of blocks of the waterflow exposed babies won't drown. You may wish to adjust the design with signs or other low-profile blocks that can hold back water, but you need at least a minimum of 2 waterflow blocks inside the pen or else longer mobs like cows could still potentially get out/die.
You can hide the water flows by digging them down 2 blocks instead of just 1 block, or just cover them with slabs or lilypads or something else (ie, Forge Microblock covers).
Rarely use fences nowadays for pens because of glitching issues, just on temporary pens occasionally; when I do I use the double block method rodabon mentions in the corners.

You were right - luckily any fence-block interface does not seem to count as a "corner", the glitch only happens when a fence makes up part of an actual corner. I had a try at making a non-ugly fence corner free chicken coop and haven't seen a single corner chicken so far, fingers crossed. (The area on the right is for me, the chickens don't go there).
Kick 'em up the bum - :P. I think this was the first thing I tried, but it seems to me like once I remove 1 fence post all my animals bolt for the 1 block gap and insta-escape. Might not matter once you have hundreds of them though.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..

You can pull them out without killing them by using a rope.

Mintutor now works in 1.13!
MrKite & Mc_Etlam ... I salute you!
