When I get more into the longer stages I'll probably cut back to segmented updates, but for now I feel like waiting until the stage is over provides more content to talk about. I'm thinking about introducing a few characters from which we can get some viewpoints (so that it's less like one person doing everything). I was also thinking about adding the Custom NPCs mod to the mix I'm playing with so that some of the characters can have an embodiment. Regular citizens not tied in to a mod-related job (magic, food, tech, architecture) will just be the regular AW workers.
For those of you wondering, since I ask you all about your mod lists, here's mine:
Main:
Ars Magica 2
Ancient Warfare 2
IndustrialCraft 2
Pam's HarvestCraft
Schematica
Tidbits:
TreeCapitator
Nether Ores
Not Enough Items
Pam's Harvest the Nether
Pam's Mob Drop Crops (disabled until I do Monks)
Rei's Minimap
Obviously I have also installed all the dependencies the mod authors asked for.
Happy building, everyone, and thanks for your support!

I don't mean to be unapproachable. I accept critiques and suggestions well, so please, by all means, make as many suggestions as you would like.
I plan on trying the challenge soon-ish, if you have room for another
modded tester. Gonna go Anglo-Saxon and do eet advanced mode.
I do need to stabilize my current instance first, though. Somehow it's
gotten very unstable. Lag gets bad almost instantly, and all but
unbearable shortly after that.
And I'm going advanced, so in goes GT, and while I'm at it, GalaticCraft.

Well, I've finished a new area of the town. It's a lot harder than it should, with MC crashing every 5 minutes on my laptop, but I managed. Here's the rest of the log for week one:
Log - Week 1, Part 2
Friday -
I built a well today, out of some cobblestone I've gathered and crafted from the small mountain nearby. Somehow, there was pure iron that I was able to forge into a bucket, allowing me to fill the well up. I also found a spruce wood forest nearby, but I didn't explore it due to the possibility of getting lost. Here is the well:
Day 6-
I built a farm today, with a bit of work. Using a few seeds I had gathered from the woods nearby, I planted some wheat , not daring to use not found in Plainedge, where I come from. With a good farmer, I believe this will feed a small community.
I'll add the Custom NPCs mod to this village next, so I can have a farmer and stuff instead of using just villagers...
At some point in the future, you might want to look at a mod called "Progressive Automation". It is interesting in that it breaks all of it's machines into tiers, from simple wooden machines, to stone, iron, and then diamond. Similarly following a vanilla-like process. It might be more suitable in cases where you want it to feel more like you're progressing from flint tools to early industrialization.
As with all my posts, feel free to use what you like, and discard the rest. I'm here to offer my take on things and to try and help you with your project. You're doing a fine job so far.
YX33A - There is ALWAYS enough room for more testers! Welcome aboard! Also - you don't HAVE to use GregTech, it was just the first mod I thought of in terms of helping to make things a bit more difficult. Use whatever other mod you can think of that amps up the challenging part of it.
Kyle - Looking good so far!
Dragon - Thanks! I initially wanted to see what I could do with a really down-to-earth nothing special pack. Ultimately, things still keep getting added. I'm thinking about adding in BiblioCraft at some point, but I'm not too sure what actual purpose it will serve as this pack doesn't really present itself with too many books, though I guess it will make the trophy room (future requirement) a lot nicer (because armor stands and things). Thankfully it's a mod that's very easy to throw in even after you've started a world because it doesn't use anything except vanilla items. In which case I may want to install that before buildng my eating place because, well, tables just look nicer than blocks.
I will have to look into that mod. It may find its way onto the list somehow

Thanks m9, but like I said, stability must be reached first.
MystCraft was the source of my lag, but now I can 'fix' this by adding other mods.
RF Tools is on my list of "add and restabilze" mods.

Thinking about starting up a let's play series with this challenge. Whaddya think?
I am, yeah.
Likely a hybrid of a picture play through and some live video sections since the internet here is terribad.

Well, considering this challenge is new, no one has done a let's play yet. The original FCB challenge, though, has some let's plays but they're kind of old..

The episode is being uploaded as we speak! For now I'm going to sleep for a bit and when I wake up it will hopefully be uploaded. No fancy thumbnail for now, though that will be changed in the future. I've been working all day to get this episode put together the right way and hopefully you will all find it entertaining.
By morning you guys will all be able to see it. If you want to see it before then, just go hang out on my YouTube channel and let others know before I know. You all can find my channel by going here. Yes, Cry of Fear is an active series. It was put on hold because of lots and lots of stress from family and school and stuff and I wasn't handling that well so hopefully I'll be able to pick back up where that left off soon. Akane the Kunoichi didn't go far (and received 7 dislikes, no likes) and was a really bad choice for an intro game. I'll come back to the game in the future when I have strengthened my skills as a let's player, but for now I'm happy that I spent the majority of an hour actually talking rather than just sitting there doing boring things and speeding them up to make the episode half an hour long.
And no, I don't have any self-confidence in my YouTubing skills.
Enjoy the episode, guys! Lemme know what you think and leave comments and PLEASE let me know you liked it by liking the video! It's a MAJOR confidence boost and tells me I'm doing good!!
Thanks, guys!!

Yeah. Again, the FCB challenge is a few years old now so a lot of the let's plays were done in, like, 1.3 or something. Also, many of the people that started a series on it dropped it after some time.
So how'd you like the first episode?

Yes. that's a pool. There are bigger pools lying around for whenever we'll need more of the stuff. Seeing as how we haven't even gotten through stage one yet, though, it'll be a while.
I'm trying to structure the episodes so that the building part is interspersed with doing fun things. I was thinking of making the third episode (I've already recorded the second) a speed-run around building the other two houses, expanding the farm, and building the well so we can then start getting into stage 2 and some mods by Episode 4 (which will be fun because I'm planning some buildings for the 4 main mods within the pack and then there's the storage/smelting area which will be smaller because, with upgrades available from Applied Energistics and IndustrialCraft, we won't need many furnaces and storage devices to do what we need to. I'm honestly thinking of making storage it's own building because AE is THAT cool (in my opinion).
There are no other planned appearances though Grey and Smudge both like trying to get loves and attention while I'm playing but want nothing to do with me when I'm just watching YouTube or something.

That's a good, simple mod list, Monarch. Nice!

Good job on your video, Monarch, I commented and subscribed to show some support for your efforts.
...so will your cat be making other special guest appearances? That was cute, and sounded just like the way my daughter's cat acts.
Also, was that an Ars Magica pool outside your front door? It looked like one, but I wasn't positive.
Yes. that's a pool. There are bigger pools lying around for whenever we'll need more of the stuff. Seeing as how we haven't even gotten through stage one yet, though, it'll be a while.
