Hi guys i just finished creating my slime farm more like no slimes spawning. No slimes spawns in my slime chunk. lit up nearby caves lit the chunk and move away 32m from the farm and wait 20 mins no slimes are spawning. but when i'm digging and creating the slime chunk i got 1 slime second to the smallest and didn't spawn anymore. also i used jack o lanterns and netherracks will it spawn?
Also, slimes are like other mobs now as far as spawning/despawning rules go (the exception being the light level). They still spawn in any light level, but now they've got a chance to despawn when you're 32+ blocks away. Stay in the 24-31 block range and they shouldn't despawn on you.
I am really not know redstone and mob farm mechanics, but I think is slimes will spawn in large quantities if you larger farm or put more Jack O' Lanterns.
It sounds like you've covered most things ... If a slime did spawn there, then it is a slime chunk.
What is the radius that you have lit the caves up in? You'll need to go out to ~128 block radius from where you stand. Although you should start seeing spwans before you get everything lit up. As long as you have a fair bit of the area lit up it should be ok.
In terms of the spawning floor, Netherack and Jack-o-lanterns should be fine.
thanks guys after going 128 blocks away from the spawning area it's spawning slimes but not that many. need to add platforms... anyways how to lock this thread or make this thread solved?
Does the fact that a few have spawned near my mine base mean that I'm operating in a slime chunk, even though I haven't found any in the various caves around the area?

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. I will face my fear. I will let it pass over me and through me, and when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
Just an FYI guys, slimes spawn readily in swamps now. I just built a small house in the nearest swamp and cleared an area around me and have had numerous slimes spawn. They spawn at night except when there is a new moon. I have slime balls out the wazoo now. For more safety which I did not do you can fence in a large area around you and light it so other baddies don't spawn because slimes will still spawn with the lighting. Just make sure you make the area big enough because they spawn anywhere in the swamp within 128 blocks of you.
Are slime spawn mechanics still buggy, or did they fix that already?

because slimes will still spawn with the lighting. ...
For slimes spawning in a Swamp, they will not spawn if the light level is above 7. This is the case in a Swamp Biome from y=50 to y=70. Slime spawning only ignores the light level for Slime Chunks below y=40.
what i meant is that when i go far 128 blocks the mobs from caves despawns and spawns slimes. here's another one. the floor below is the roof of my slime farm and i cleared 19x19 in my slime chunks 3x3 for the slimes getting pushed by water but there's this thing here spawns a big stone pillar and when i checked the nearby caves which is lit up. another caves/shallows generate is this natural? the pillar generator all the way down to the bedrock
If you are playing Xbox 360 edition slimes are pretty rare (I have only found like 4 slimes in my near 2 years of minecrafting). Also, I had no idea how complicated slime generation is (this may explain why slimes are so rare)

If you got one then more will spawn, your caves just aren't lit up enough, cave lighting doesn't make much of a noticeable difference unless a large percentage of it is done. Also not very much spawning space, i have a single slime chunk with 6-8 ( can't remember right now and im afk at my iron farm so can't go check without restting my farm) and i get about a stack of slimes or so an hour and i've lit up a lot of caves nearby but nowhere near all of them.
^ This is the answer for the OP. Just need to light caves in the area (within 128 blocks of the farm) to keep other mobs from spawning and filling up the mob cap.

If they spawned underground, they spawned there due to being in a slime chunk.
You'd have to use F3 debug view to figure out exactly what chunk and where the boundaries of the chunk are.
I've looked at that particular slime finder before, but I'm not experienced enough to know how to read either that or the chunk numbers on the F3 screen, but the fact they have spawned near me gives me hope.
It isn't always obvious exactly where they spawn because the wobbly blighters bounce around. I found one (or maybe two) slimes near my skelly farm but I couldn't work out exactly where they had come from.
I was luckier when I was exploring under my house a few weeks ago as a huge slime spawned and because of the size of the tunnel entrances (i.e. too small for it to get through) I was able to ascertain for certain exactly which chunk it spawned in so I built my slime farm there and very productive it is.
Several of the slimes that have spawned are indeed too big to fit through the tunnels leading off the room, so it seems likely they're spawning there.
Thanks!

first of all guys thanks for replying the spawning platform is y=37 and it is absolutely a slime chunk. and I will try to put more platforms ty

Slimes only spawn at 40 and below. If it is near the surface, GO DEEPER.

How do you know if you're in a slime chunk?

But reading the post in question shows that it specifically referenced slimes spawning on the suface in swamps!
Bohose2014» was suggesting hunting slimes in a swamp instead of building an underground spawner.
Just testing.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..

You'd have to use F3 debug view to figure out exactly what chunk and where the boundaries of the chunk are.
You could check using a slime chunk finder:

Good luck slime hunting!

Light up the surface and as many caves as possible as only so many mobs can spawn at given time and you dont want that taken up by *hostile mobs.
Lighting up the surface and caves will definitely help. But, bats won't have anything to do with it. They are on a separate mob cap.
