I'm so sick and tired of people posting herobrine this and oh he was real that. this is a thread explaining the origins of herobrine and why HE ISN'T REAL!
Origin: a scary creepypasta (probably originating from 4chan) was posted of this image:
this creepypasta became ultra famous in the fiery depths that is the creepy pasta section of 4chan. it was famous. the herobrine myth soon but very slowly leaked out of the walls of creepypasta and stained the very few areas of the internet. until one fateful night, a minecraft livestreaming duo by the name of Brocraft picked up this interesting story and decided to spread it widely and make him known across the internet. how? they staged a hoax on their livestream
with herobrine but with real eyes instead of his white blocky eyes. when the page was viewed from it's source, a secret message was included with some jumbled letters. when the jumbled letters were removed it read:
It has been reported that some victims of torture, during the act, would retreat into a fantasy world from which they could not WAKE UP. In this catatonic state, the victim lived in a world just like their normal one, except they weren't being tortured. The only way that they realized they needed to WAKE UP was a note they found in their fantasy world. It would tell them about their condition, and tell them to WAKE UP. Even then, it would often take months until they were ready to discard their fantasy world and PLEASE WAKE UP.
the owners of the stream already confirmed his hoax but I couldn't find the source so that is unconfirmed.
this sparked huge a huge fear in minecraft players and the myth of herobrine was spread double time. notch was spammed on his twitter account about him until finally making him to say: http://twitter.com/#!/notch/status/27871748827
Herborine discussion of any kind is not allowed. Since you put a lot of work into this thread and it contains a lot of information, it will just be locked

(recording was removed :dry.gif: but if you still want the link then http://www.livestream.com/minecrafterryday/video?clipId=pla_30d1b597-bc86-45c5-83d6-30527e2fd85e) and fake crashed the stream. people who were viewing were redirected to a page (couldn't find the page anymore sorry)

http://twitter.com/#!/notch/status/27871748827
but of course people were STILL frustrated and stubborn making him post several tweets about him such as:
http://twitter.com/#!/notch/status/58482961355513856
http://twitter.com/#!/notch/status/23849639551700992
and even kappische tweeted a recent confirmation of the herobrine hoax:
https://twitter.com/#!/Kappische/status/109153949017313280
but still, people denied denied denied. Notch then added jokes of the removal of herobrine in recent update changelogs:

so as you can see, herobrine isn't real. he never will be. good day to you sir.
