I noticed the same thing its wierd. But i believe certain levels are better for certain resources so idk try looking where gold starts compared to Diamonds and dig there I think youll find more.
EDIT: Gold starts at 32 so try digging 12->32 somewhere in there to get more gold
its whear u mine gold is about 40 and under while dimand is 16 and under so any whear in 40- is gold so oly lokking at 16- has a smaller chance of getting so no
The numbers we used were using over 9000 generated chunks, compared to the wiki's 3000, or outdated generation.
Either way, the difference is far smaller than the variance introduced by chance in what you find. For any practical measurement, their density is the same, and finding more of one or the other is pure randomness.
There are certain types of large cave systems that contain a lot of gold. They usually will have very few level 10 lava lakes, and don't reach high enough to get to the surface. Level 14 mines have a higher chance of hitting them than level 12 mines. In one of them I found about 45 gold ore in that one cave. The minus to them is that they don't have many diamonds or lapis lazuli.

Average vein size needs to be researched. My personal mining record in caves has about 30% less diamond than gold per hour, but in mining, the difference is only 10%.

Is gold rarer than diamond, or am i digging in the wrong place? (I Mine below Level 16)

gold is in .11% of rock benath level 32
diamond is in .09% benath level 18
They can be found a bit higher than that, but their density drops
I was basing my inital statement on the ore density graph, an the .02% difference wasn't visible on it.

I have 5-7 gold blocks(9 golds bar each),
While diamond i have only 2 blocks(9 diamonds each).[Im rich! haha].
However, there does not seem to be a significant difference in their density, though gold can be found higher up

Did your data show how deep the largest total quantity of gold was?
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that? You mean the deepest layer that still generates at that percentage?
