So i was thinking about what minecraft would be like if there were actual dangers to avoid instead of monsters and gaint spiders. For example you could have cave-ins and gas leaks while underground, earthquakes and natural disasters above. the only exception being the nether, like on occasion a rift to the nether will open and allow ghasts to invade until you close it. That way minecraft can feel a great amount more fun to people who dont really like looking over there shoulder everytime they step into any sort of dark place. Perhaps this could be considered for a mode, maybe the current mode with monsters being called "Survival horror" and the normal disaster one being called "Survival".
So what do you think?
Any criticism and changes are welcome.
I think that the final version there's supposed to be a super-realistic mode (well as realistic as you can get with minecraft), I feel like this would be pretty cool for that mode, but regular survival should stay the way it is.
Of course my good man , in they year of '86 I was browsing some of the caves in my world looking for a tad bit of coal to keep my abode warm. And what do you know!?!?! a giant combusting scrotum snuck up on me!
The trouble is, monster you can plan for and do something about. Even if it's just waiting inside until they all despawn. You have some control over the situation when it comes to monsters.
Natural disasters you don't have that. They just happen, and you clean up afterward. That removes power from the players which will frustrate many if not most of them.
Personally I'd like storms to be greater challenges.
Rain should put out exposed torches, make blocks more slippery making it more dangerous to walk around, cause saplings to blow off trees and plant themselves nearby (think about this, you might have cleared land around your bases walls, but then trees grow nearby allowing mobs to climb over your wall).
Snow should build up layers of snowblocks, so mobs could climb over walls and you'd find the terrain changed and surprising after a snowstorm.
I'd also like to see creepers occasionally blow up from frustration of not being able to reach you, so that even if they're not close enough to you, they might blast a hole in your wall. Also zombies should be able to dig through dirt and some other easy to break things.

Evidence suggests that many people quote posts without reading them in their entirety.
Still no infinite strongholds D:
"Finally! My castle is complete! I no longer fear creepers or spiders! Victory! Cake for everyone!"
*Incoming Nuclear Tsunami Earthquake.*
"FML."
It would change the way we play, that's for sure. We would have to take precautions to make sure our structures are earthquake proof. And we may build dykes and levees to prevent flooding. And some time would be spent repairing structures.
I would love this, especially if it was able to be toggled on/off, or if major disasters only occurred on Hard difficulty. I'd love to see major rainstorms start flash floods.

...its a little weightist to assume everyone is the same size. Like some people are skinny and some people are fart.

That would be SO COOL.
Plus it would give you more to do when you've basically done everything the game has to offer.

Literally just found some, what does it do??
It's nice that you used the word "literally" because if you hadn't done that, I would have thought that you figuratively found some. Thank you for making that clear.

So, I was thinking. One of the main complains for natural disasters is that you can't control them and that means your house MAY not survive everything nature throws at it.
I say we need a beta version of creative before natural disasters are implemented, and natural disasters are survival only. Perhaps then some actual surviving can be done in survival.
So what do you think?

Hard to put in game? yes
Many good things come from Sweden, like minecraft and.... umm.... did i alredy say minecraft?
if u put redstone in jukebox, will it play redzone?
I dont mean huge disasters, say a earthquake manages to hit right at your castle. you would have some repairs to do, but it wouldn't obliterate it.
Trying to raise your post count, I see?

Ah, that somehow remind me of Motherload Goldium...
But, anyways. yeah. It dosnt sound like a bad idea... but neither does sound like a good idea :/

WTF how can a Tsunami be nuclear???
