Title says all. For me, having an awesome and/or massive house in Minecraft is half the game. Like my sky fortress spanning almost an entire jungle! (Sorry, no pics. It's on the 360 version and I can't figure out how to take a snapshot on it...)
So, best house ever built and hopefully not destroyed by a barrage of creepers?
I avoided the creepers entirely, by building a massive castle in the sky with a surrounding village on the old server I used to play on! It got wiped when we moved to a new map but I rebuilt a smaller version of it anyway haha

This did use a modded stone set. The inside is even better but it uses a lot of mod stuff (Bibliocraft and Thaumcraft)
Geographicraft (formerly Climate Control) - Control climate, ocean, and land sizes; stop chunk walls; put modded biomes into Default worlds, and more!
RTG plus - All the beautiful terrain of RTG, plus varied and beautiful trees and forests.
