Zombie pigmen will organize into well-coordinated search and destroy teams with weapons open, and creepers will develop the ability to determine certain eigenvalues of the voxel-based matrix that is the minecraft world.
can the water be under ground? so the wheat or w.e ur growing still get the water source?
Yeah that works, at least with the dirt blocks above the water.
I'm not entirely sure why this keeps croping up (no pun intended). Alternitively, I'm not sure why my minecraft works differently than yours.
That has never worked for me. The tilled dirt tiles just revert back after a time without getting watered.

If he were so inclined, he could carry a Nimitz class supercarrier, but that'd take him two trips. That ranks about an eight on my scale, with Mars being a 9 and the Andromeda galaxy being nearly a 10.
Technically, you don't need water, but farmland that is not watered frequently reverts back to dirt, and crops that are not watered grow very slowly, and are very unlikely to make it to full size before their farmland disappears.
so basically, when you till the land and you see the dirt blocks turn dark brown, that means they are "saturated" and crops grow faster on saturated blocks. you can achieve these blocks very quickly if they are near water, but if they are not then crops will still grow, just much slower
