Iron/Gold Ore drops as an Item not a Block

good idea. just make it iron chunk and gold chunk, allowing for exp and fortune, and is smeltable. silk touch would still give us the block
You obviously don't play minecraft much. This would ruin the game.

Well you are not that smart if you don't understand my post. I just think there should be a point to coal, besides food.

My face hurts from all the palm it's been receiving lately.

The suggestion is to drop items, which are then smelted into ingots.

Only a fool would think they should drop INGOTS....

I don't understand your mind. How the hell do you think grass works? It drops dirt, but grass with silk touch.

    okay. I understand now.

Basically, you want more iron and gold. Why not just go into creative mode if you want that?

Cause that would be over powered, cause iron and gold are common enough already.

The only way this would work would be if mining an Iron/Gold Ore block, instead of dropping an Iron/Gold Ore *block* "item", would instead drop say an Iron/Gold Ore "chunk" (or whatever) "item" instead, which then needs to be smelted to get the Iron/Ore Ingot.

Then you'd lose Iron/Gold Ore blocks are decorative blocks unless you had Silk Touch, which is already helluva hard to get.

Sorry, I don't really support this. Sure, maybe it would be more "logical", but Fortune enchantment is already more than powerful enough as it is, without it also boosting iron and gold harvesting.

So, you just want the name to change? From iron ore, to iron dust or something? And only one drops? What's the point?

He wants it to where instead of a block it drops a smeltable item letting people get exp from it and making silk touch a bit more useful.
    I'd be fine without it.

The ore would still have to be smelted, they just wouldn't be placeable blocks.

    You get xp from smelting.

Don't you mean fortune instead of silk touch?

Literally 90% of the issues people have with this were addressed in the first post suggesting it, you guys really don't read anything do you? :Sheep:

For the record the reason I want more Iron and Gold is because I build big railways, with fortune Diamonds are quite common compared to gold!

So, Iron/Gold Ore is broken into 1 Iron/Gold Chunk, or more if the Pickaxe has Fortune enchantment on it.
The Iron/Gold Chunk can then be smelted into Iron/Gold Ingots.

I support this, since it would help provide for a more extensive minecart Rail highway system in the mid- and endgame phase, but I think that the Ore should have a chance to drop more (1-2/3 with max of 5/6 with Fortune) to help earlier in the game, rather than just those far enough along to enchant.

Also, the "It could still be made back into a block if you really wanted (like Glowstone can be)." part should be taken out, as this could be used for a potential infinite Ore loop, not that there aren't duplication glitches now, but no sense adding another one.

It is because you mine the actual diamond/redstone/coal rock, iron and gold you mine the ORE. This ore needs to be refined before it can be used.

    So, no support.

I don't think you understand. Your grammar also makes no sense whatsoever.

True, but they could just add an item that looks like the ore or a clump of unrefined Iron/Gold and make it drop that instead of the block. The whole smelting argument has already been discussed.

But as for the idea, I really don't see a need. I make rail systems thousands of blocks long and I'm never short on Iron or Gold, and that's playing vanilla Survival. Wouldn't hate it if it was added, but don't see a reason to change it.
Looks like my free time is going to be divided equally between Minecraft suggestions and Starbound suggestions from now on.

Why do you people want the game to be easier than it already is? Iron is common, gold besides rails is useless, and you could just use fortune on it to get way more. No support.

    You can't read!

    I'TS NOT EASIER.

IT'S AN ITEM INSTEAD OF A BLOCK.

    HOW IS THAT EASIER?

I get it now, I still don't see the need.

I also don't see what is wrong with my grammar.

Apparently, you could fortune the ore, thus getting more for your money. Why do we even need it? The block is fine.

Why? I don't like how it looks placed, but there is no use to removing the feature to make it placeable. Why should it be made so that you get a useless new item to smelt, instead f a placeable block that could also be smelted. Besides, I have a friend who makes really cool designs with Iron, Coal, gold, diamond, ores etc. I think one was the Mina Lisa. He technically used silk touch for diamond, coal, and emerald, but there's no point to making him do that with iron and gold ore
Isn't it weird thatpalindrome is emordnilap backwards?
