I think there should be a water Dragon, which is more eel like. It would be smaller, skinnier, and have fins. It would not have wings. It would also not hurt you, but instead blow bubbles, whcih force you to float back up to the surface. They would live in under water caves, and be friendly to other water dragons, as well as squids. It would fight guardians with it's bubbles.
What do you think?
Also, I think that all 3 current dragons should fight each other if they come in range of each other.
But, wether you add this or not, Support
Water dragons would be sweet to add as well. Brings more to still empty oceans.
This definitely needs to become a mod at the very least. Is there anyone who would be up for the task?
I see this thread has been bumped once more. Why does everyone have the line of thought of "This was once mentioned by Mojang, so now it NEEDS to be in the game! That's a fact!"?
Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
is what must be going through the heads of the people who do this...
Anways, since someone bumped it, I might as well say:
This idea sounds unfitting. If anything, red dragons should somehow be hatched from the ender dragon egg, not in random dungeons. It is a decent idea, but sounds a bit overpowered (yes, I read the whole thing).
No support
With that particular text bolded, italicized, and underlined:
So apparently it's logically for a black dragon to lay a black egg; and that egg hatches into a red dragon?
At this point, yes it's logical for very rare dungeons to occur and needing the right gear to fight them, rather than having to go all the way to the end and then killing it, getting only one egg.
You did make a good point. There isn't much logic in that, but that was the way it was originally supposed to be implemented (according to Mojang). That doesn't mean that is the best way to do it, but there are many creatures that look different when they are first born.
That is true, some creatures are born with different features from their parents, and even from their entire species. This could happen in this instance, but since it would supposedly happen for every single player, it does seem a bit odd.
There was a point where I supported this whole-heartedly, because at the time it seemed like it fit with the rest of Minecraft.
Now, though...not so much. The dragons seem a bit OP, they clash with what Minecraft has become (it's not really a fantasy-simulator like it seemed to be becoming back then), and they just don't make sense. In all honesty this thread just needs to die, and people need to quit bumping it (I know, I know, ironic because I'm responding. But someone else said something an hour ago and I felt like I needed to speak my piece)

I like the general idea, but I feel like it's too easy to tame a dragon. Maybe require some item from the Nether or End so that it actually feels like an End Game reward.
I like this suggestion. It helps add a sense of fantasy to the minecraft world that the enderdragon never did for me. My only suggestions are to get rid of the burning potion (there are already enough ways to set someone on fire) and to make the nether dragon attack zombie pigmen and the other dragons attack villages.

You also have to take into account though, the rarity of dragons in the world. Also, the creator of this suggestion might intend for there to be large dragon battles. These would be hard if hardly anyone had a dragon. I think good idea though would be to give every dragon randomized stats within a fair range and perhaps the chance of having a special ability.

I think this thread has many flaws, and I rarely criticize others threads. It takes too much valuable time to do so. But anyway, they simply would not fit in Minecraft anymore. At least the way you want. We do not need armor made from dragon scales or dragon teeth to make spears. The way I see it, if dragon armor was implemented it would use the dragon egg, but not consume it. EX. you would not lose the egg if you made armor out of it. And it was directly stated by mojang that they would not implement dragon riding.
As much as I love the idea of being able to ride dragons and burn all the villages down like a mighty god of fire and death, it seems more like something a person might put in a mod, if this were to be added to the game. As many people have suggested, for those that still support dragon-riding, perhaps adding a mechanic that makes you give up something of great value or great quantity to be able to do it. Whether it's gold, fire charges, or meat, I don't particularly care, so long as it helps balance things out.
I do like the idea of the dragons flying out and destroying villages near their lairs or pillaging them of their riches. Perhaps there could be a mini-quest that plays along with this, with the villagers pleading with you for assistance and sending you to do something about it. And perhaps an option for you to offer up any riches to the beast to temporarily appease it, because any dragon that's worth his salt knows better than to instantly vaporize potential treasure, especially if he thinks you could be of use to him in gathering more.
But with all this in mind, I don't really see how this could fit in vanilla Minecraft.
No support as a vanilla addition, but full support as a mod.

XD
I think it should be neutral, the water dragon, so it wont do anything to the player, unless he/she attacks it.
I support this, even the ridding.
I think the rarity of these should be VERY rare, so like when you create a new world you wouldn't just find one easily and tame it right away.
The taming should have high costs like a few stacks of meat and a bunch of iron/gold/diamonds/etc.
I also agree that being able to breathe fire/water spout/ice breath/etc with the dragon should come with a cost.
Just throwing out some my own thoughts.
Omg yes, this game needs to have more dragons.

That's a good idea.

I think I found something slightly...
... insane.

This will never happen.
I'm sorry. :/ It's the truth.
Good job on those textures. They are so much better than the ender dragon that mojang dropped out of their butts.
