Pokemon with deity worship
please dont remind me of that... stupid religious people... i'm Christan and all (i know i didn't spell that right) but the way people talk like pokemon are "demons" and all? REALLY!? people can be so stupid... makes us sensible Christans look bad...
Nothing can prove God and the bible stories exist, Nothing also DISPROVES it.
Ever seen a spider web without seeing the spider? Does that mean it isn't there?
You are a naive, misinformed, ignorant Charlatan. I pity you and your family, and hope I never have to meet you in real life. Hit the ****ing books, man, you have a lot of catching up to do if you want to be on the same level as most people who have passed grade school. Nothing disproves God? Are you serious?!? Your spiderweb example is embarrassing for me to read.
I can't hit 'post' yet without reiterating that I ****ing pity your ignorance.
It's a game. As in Not Real. Unless you kids start carving out a spider's eye and putting it in a glass with watermelon, hoping to get super powers, you have nothing to worry about. I live on a college campus...witchcraft crap is not uncommon. It isn't real, it doesn't do anything which means it can not hurt you, and therefore there is no issue with it being in Minecraft.
See, now, I can't SEE your post text, but that doesn't mean it isn't-
...oh, there's no text in the reply code?
The text field in the page source code under this post ID is blank?
...Well ****.
On a non-satirical note, why is this not locked yet? This derailed harder than a wincest thread with spiderman pics.
After playing mo' creatures I got annoyed by options. I am okay with options that turn off neutral things like lighting etc. but not things like certain mobs. I started turning off mobs that annoyed me and it only made me a weaker player.
Pretty sure notch would have to choose the side of science. He is in Mensa after all, and I'm sure he would not take anything out of the game because its not realistic. Lets all remember that zombies dropped feathers at one point.
To the Testificates, our redstone and other craftables are essentially witchcraft/magic. I mean, how do we slap two ingots of iron and a stick together to make a sword? It makes no practical sense, but it's minecraft.
That said, I'll just leave Clarke's third law here: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
That good enough for everyone? Good, back to mining people, those creepers aren't going to kill themsel-wait...
I find it amazing that the people on this forum find it so compelling to discuss their religions. I mentioned neither God, nor religion, yet all that has been discussed here is religion. I condemned nobody else's religious beliefs, yet almost all that has been done here so far has been your condemning your perception of my religious beliefs. I'm sorry if your perception of my religious beliefs prevents you from being able to discuss this suggestion on its own merits. Please propagate your own religion in a different forum, and don't use the Minecraft forums to do so. Please limit discussion in these forums to Minecraft. And please limit your replies to this thread to the subject matter of this thread, namely the suggestion to add options for the major parts of Minecraft so that all players may play the game the way that they wish to.
Back to the suggestion at hand. All I asked for was that options continue to be added to this game to allow people to choose how they wish to play this game. There are already options for almost every major part of this game. There is even an option for whether animals spawn. All I suggested was continuing that process. That process has nothing to do with religion. It has to do with choice. Obviously some people thought that giving people that choice was a worthwhile thing at some point in time, because they gave this game several options already. I mentioned the only two areas that currently don't yet have options, the two new areas, and also mentioned the use of options for other areas that might be added in the future. So what is your opinion about continuing the process of adding options to this game?

As I said before, but everyone else here ignored in favor to discuss religion, it's not up to the players to choose what is and what is not in a game. That's the game designer's work. Remember that back in the day all options there would be in a game was "difficulty" and "sound volume". You couldn't toggle the end stage boss on and off.
But hey! Minecraft (and a bunch of other games too) have a great modding community, with people making all kinds of changes to their game to fit their taste. So, its ridiculous to think that Notch should bother himself to make everything in minecraft toggleable if there are mods out there that do the same. Besides, game designers put a lot of time thinking about all features that are in a game, (after all, this is their job) so enabling everyone to change the game at their own will is simply throwing all their work on the garbage.
So, if you don't like something that is in the game, go find yourself a mod that removes it for you. If you don't want to use mods for this, then go play something else. Simple as that.
Mazzaroppi The rules for this forum specify that for the Suggestion forum, stating that the solution is to use a mod is specifically prohibited. This is not the mod forum, it is a forum about changing the base game. Modding is not the solution to all things, and specifically not a valid solution for any changes suggested for the base game.
Coalmie as a programmer myself, I can safely say that allowing people to enable and disable certain features is not an exception in software, it is the rule. In fact there were so many things that had enables and disables in them that Microsoft had to switch from using ini files to using the registry in order to avoid lost performance due to the sheer number of them. The software that I write for a living has literally thousands of enables and disables in it. All of them were added by customer request because each customer likes something slightly different than every other customer likes. And all are defaulted to what we think most people will like, and then the customer is allowed to customize the settings to their particular liking.
And the enables that are already in Minecraft were added by someone, at someone's request, so someone must agree, or atleast have agreed in the past, that enables are a good thing for Minecraft under atleast some circumstances.

Ok forget I even said anything about mods, even I don't use them (besides optifine) because I want to enjoy the game how it's supposed to be, and also not taking the risk of a mod corrupting my save file or keeping me from switching back to vanilla)
But my main point is still there. Games are not programs as browsers or text editors, where it does make a lot of sense to be able to customise it a lot.
And finally, what would keep your kids from switching something back on, if they are just options of the game? I believe you would anwser something along the lines of "parental control pannel". But do you honestly think this fits a game such as Minecraft?
The friendly answer is that my family all want to play with certain things limited.
The parental answer is that my PC is the server for our family. Only I can start the server, only I can change the server's options, and my family is only allowed to connect to my server. Thus I can control it. Just like I have controls in place to make sure that they don't cross the street in front of speeding Mack trucks.
I for one do not like "nether", "potions", and "enchantments" simply because of what they stand for in real life, and as such I will NEVER use them (which basically leaves me out of the new upgrade abilities). But I don't mind others having those features if they want them.
In order to satisfy the people that want the witchcraft, and those that want the more sophisticated play of industrialization, or weapons, or NPC, or well you get the idea; could we please add those abilities to minecraft, and then add options to minecraft to enable the parts that you like, and disable the ones that you don't.
At first I thought you were going to say something about exp and food bars, which I hate.

So I was working on this really cool resource pack a while ago, but bad progress nonwithstanding, I think I found something much better... I'm probably gonna never release another custom Minecraft map.Until we meet again...
