The necro-doll seems like it's "Well, that's good, I got necromancy. Now I never have to pick that thing up again". I don't like that.
BUT. I have a solution. Make it so you can sticker Necro-dolls onto books to make "Tomes" (for lack of a better name. Necro-book seemed kind of lame, and necronomicon seemed over the top). 4 books and 4 paper crafted with 1 necro-doll (obviously with the necro-doll in the middle of the grid) would yield 4 tomes. Tomes would use a similar texture to a book, with a black cover and red "words" on it.
But, what would these objects of Tome-y-ness do, you ask? Well, considering the Necromancer's table, tomes should be able to be crafted into Tomeshelves (in the same way that bookshelves are crafted, with tomes replacing books (Herpaderpa). They would look like darker coloured bookshelves) which could be placed around a necromancer's table, improving the table's power.
The table would be improved by allowing different mobs to be made (it seems OP that you can have any mob straight away, I think it should begin with just Zombie and Skeleton). So:
0 Shelves= Skeleton, Zombie.
1 Shelf= Zombie pigman, spider.
2 Shelves= Slime, *Magma cube*, Creeper.
4 Shelves= Enderman, Ghast, Blaze.
Considering the rarity of necro-dolls, 4 shelves seems like a good enough maximum (requiring you to have found 3 extra dolls)
But, my idea isn't necessary if necro-dolls are required in the 'new' mob crafting GUI idea is used (but it seems kind of wasteful on the dolls, so I don't like it).
EDIT: Another use for the necro-doll could be that you need to right click your minions with it to perform special actions (such as the Enderman's grabbing, and the Creeper's exploding).
Resurrected mobs, when killed, drop the necro doll they were made from, as well as any armor/weapons they were wearing/holding, nothing else though.
Also, the resurrecting via a single item was dropped in favor of a more in depth crafting system.
Yes!
And you can have a cute little pet slime too! :3
I can't say I agree with anyone who said it would make a great mod. I think, as long as it isn't too overpowering and stealing the spotlight from the intentions of the rest of the game, this would make a great addition to minecraft. You have my support!

This is nothing like that, the entire concept is flawless, only thing I'd like to see changed is the recipe for crafting a blaze. The only reason I have for this is the general ease of acquiring many blaze rods at a time, as opposed to the other mob crafting recipes which require materials which aren't only mob drops.
I think if the blaze recipe is going to be changed it should instead of the blaze powder use either: a fire charge or: a flint and steel.
Considering Blazes are sort of machine-like in nature, I was thinking about changing the recipe to somthing different.
Fire charges are non-renewable, so it seems like a good option. I'll consider it later once whave finalized the recipes and put them into the All dem dimensions mod.
i like the idea, and i actually wouldn't really mind this getting added in. although i don't think it should be possible to resserect ALL of those mobs. just zombies skeletons, and zombie pigmen. i like the necro dolls. instead of flesh and wool, you need flesh and bones. and for skeletons, a lot of bones, a bow, and a bunch of arrows. instead of stay, protect, follow, etc. there should just be stay and follow, just like pets. when staying, they will wander around a certain point and attack any monster that comes in their range. these guys should still burn, though.
for the table, how about just like an enchantment table except an eye of ender instead of a book? you must place a necro doll in first, then you must place 10 flesh and 7 bones for a zombie, 10 bones, 10 arrows, and a bow for a skeleton, and 3 raw pork, 5 rotten flesh, and a golden sword for a zombie pigman.
a nice idea, i support!
False. Fire charges can use either coal, which is not renewable, or charcoal, which is.
To read the haiku that you
Just finished reading
Yeah I forgot about that.
When they were first introduced they could only be crafted with coal. I figured that it was still the case when I posted that.
The idea of using fire charges was only because it makes it use something other than things dropped from the mob used in the recipe. This is so that you can't just camp a blaze spawner and be able to make a giant blaze army.
Well, I have other things set in place to prevent that anyways.
You need a doll to be able to craft a blaze in the first place, and dolls are rather rare. Since the dolls are consumed in the making of the mob, you can only have as many mobs as you have dolls.
The way I see it, you would be lucky to get just one doll, they would be as rare as apples used to be when they could only be found in dungeons.
You also need XP to create the mob, that prevents any abuse of the system as well, though I suppose you could just make and XP grinder to get around that.
Actually, although this is a great idea, it would overshadow everything else. Perhaps these necro dolls are only avaliable after defeating the Enderdragon, or you have to have completed all the achievements, or something like that. That being said, there should be a limit on how many you can have out at a time. Like, you can't have ten Endermen carrying chests and an ender chest in your inventory when you're mining, as that would be entirely stupid. Or perhaps you'd have to earn the power to do so; like defeating __ number of enemies with your creatures before you can have out __ many creatures. But it's still a great idea.
*Screams due to idea being MUCH too epic. Someone make a *CENSORED*ing mod. NOW!*
Oh and this is a brilliant idea that I would love.
Good job!
