I've always wanted a pet slime, and I've never actualy gotten a large enough amount of slimeballs to make the [Insert example here] I've always wanted to make. This solves both issues. Slime breeding would work very diffrently from normal breeding. You can feed it various organic matter (even rotten flesh), which causes it to grow in size. It won't grow beyond the large size. You can force slimes to reproduce by slicing them up. You then feed the two resulting slimes to increase their size, and slice them up to make more slimes. Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat.
Or, as KyoShinda said:
How about:
You cut them in half,
You feed it, it starts glowing green a tad bit(or some indicator),
It grows to larger slime(over time), Repeat

I think of Christmas as a happy time, It's the only time of the year when every man and woman sees each other as equals. Even if it hasn't put any gold or silver in my pockets I say it has done me good and will do me good and there for I say god bless it! ~Scrooge's Nephew.
COOL O_O
I do think the thread about putting slimes in swamps makes sense but Notch would probably go more for this kind of thing.
You really think notch might do something like this? YES!

Ok, I guess you could keep them aggressive. The reason I think this could be added is because it makes complete sense unlike most ideas people have. Not only that but, breeding by using my sword, that's fun. xD
Yea, I was actualy thinking that keeping the slime from devouring you would be part of the challange. :tongue.gif:

HaHa! Yea, I once had to create an huge undergound chamber at bedrock level just to find one.

Since most people complain that they are hard to find, they want them to spawn more often or have them in biomes and things like that. This would make them still a gem to find BUT after you find them you got the cat in the bag. I think this is the best solution to the issue.

I guess budding would be like how normal cells would reproduce, which would take more time.
Although cutting them to make them 'breed' would be fun, it would be way too easy if you had stacks of rotten flesh laying around. I like the cutting but the budding idea makes more sense x.x
Sorry to double post. How about:

They would have to make slimes neutral for this.
